Everyone grab plat in open and start broadcasting an offer to buy some listening time from anyone who has looted unknown artifacts!. -So frustrated i am working until the weekend!

Try an Anarchy system that has a black market at an anarchy station.
When I was in Timocani I found at least 3 of those unknown artefacts over there. I also got other artefact's.

100% did not get the unknown artefacts from strong signal source. I know cos I was solo and I never touched the strong signals ever. So that leaves weak signal and USS(I am not saying we can't find them in SSS, just that I never did). I was also pirating so it is possible I got them from haulers from outside USS.

The artefacts are not legal. Can only be sold at black market afaik.
Timocani is an anarchy system. The anarchy station there has a black market.
I wonder if npc traders were bringing them to an anarchy black market.
I was in Timocani for 3 weeks and I looted 3 or 4 of those canisters and I never jumped more than 1 or 2 systems whole time I was there.

looks like I'll be heading over to Timocani when I get back from work, if no one has found one by then ;)

Found this in the 1.2 Patch Notes :Adding valuable salvage convoys to three permitted systems: LFT 509, Isinor, Witch's Reach

If the new salvage was added at the same time as the new salvage items is this where we should be looking possibly>?

Anyone tried LHS 412? I am not saying why but maybe worth it. i would but i am currently several thousand LY away heading out to the core . If anyone finds anything I claim credit for the idea.

Someone just posted this in another thread.

Antiquities are obtained from Isinor, from a convoy with a T9 protected by two Anacondas. That's a bit different, though, in that it's a marker in the navigation panel similar to a checkpoint or combat zone, rather than a signal source.

Searching Google it looks like it is encoded by a crypto ring. will try to decipher. but there are a couple of hits in websites too!

edit
Errr - FDev and Mr Brooks (or Cube) in particular are having fun with us...

plaintext: Be sure to drink your Ovaltine!
ciphertext: Or fher gb qevax lbhe Binygvar!

It is a ROT 13key to a cypher.- FYI

Those deciphers you have there bring up old memories of when the Thargoids attempted to speak to you over comms.

They tried learning English, but whatever they sent you used to be random.

Just like:

"Make sure to drink your Ovaltine!"

Love it :D

Michael

How about a ship module that can record and decode sounds (i.e. convert alien signals into a human language or images, decrypt signals etc.)?

Because that could remove half the fun from this... I'm hoping that even when we get the sound, it will still take some thinking to work out what it means... A module for it? No thank-you. :)

Lft 509, Isinor and Witch's Reach are all permit systems : https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=122593
looks like witch's reach permit is currently unobtainable, not to sure about Lft 509

Make me wonder tho.
If they added convoys to Witch's Reach in 1.2 why is it still closed off?
Maybe we just haven't tried to unlock it successfully.

When I was searching for clues and investigating the galaxy map, Witch's Reach was on my radar as a possible. I can't remember why I thought that, I either read something from the history of Elite lore or I just put Witch Space and Witch's Reach together, if only cos of the one word Witch.

I was about to go there but decided on Peregrina instead.

I actually think this whole "Have you tried listening to it?" is just a tongue-in-cheek reference to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, when Harry had to take the merman's egg into the bathtub to listen to the song.

Michael is probably rolling on the floor laughing at all of this.

While running missions for Peregrina Aristocrats in HIP 18609 in order to get the permit for Peregrina system, I got asked to go pick up an Ancient Artefact in a nearby system - one of the HIPs.

Thought I'd record the soundscape while I was there.

So maybe we need to take the Canister to a specific system to make it work....?

Well why would he continue to chip in as he has clarifying they are two different objects?

Still in case your right I will bulk order 1000 pitch forks and torches from Ebay, print off a map to the Frontier premises and meet you all at a near by roundabout. :D

I read this as if you are in those systems, they have added convoys to SSS which will be carrying valuable salvage. So, somehow need to gain those permits and raid those ships.
Does seem that the permits are there to be earned - somehow...
