Soontill Relics, the Regor Permit Sector and DB's cryptic hints....

In the book Angel's "Advisor" is an AI named "DORIS" she has turns out to be a trap laid by the Thargoids to stop people discovering the Thargoid home/source LHS 412-iV is where they supposedly find something although not as expected, but it is where she is attacked by "DORIS" and all is revealed.

That was my reasoning for scouting out the system and looking for anything connected to the characters/ship names etc etc from there. we know that USS etc are random so maybe its a case of winging up to take on some of these etc.

You know you might want to post these as spoilers.. for anyone who has not yet read the books.

Looks like my earlier video was a dud - I'm sitting in empty space with my Cobra running quiet and getting the exact same noises!!!

I now have access to Peregrina, but every USS/SSS/WSS I've dropped in on has been a dud. Now staring at a canister of scrap.

I was thinking along the same lines as you, in that the best info may come from the books. I actually spent quite a lot of time in LHS 412 after checking the Soontill lead. But hours of searching later and I only discovered the typical salvage you see everywhere, although 3 Anaconda's did try to ambush me by laying a trap with a canister of AI Relics, which I never managed to grab unfortunately.

I think the value of unknown artifacts my be a giveaway too. They're worth over 200K. I'm not sure something worth that much would be found unguarded so I'm guessing we'll have to fight off Anacondas and the like to get at it? The incident with the AI Relics made me think along those lines.

Sounds like we need to group up and take out those anacondas guarding the AI relics and Unknown Artifacts. I'll be on later tonight (west coast canada time) hopefully some one beats me to it. I'll be watching reddit and this thread!

Does anyone remember a video which showcased the sounds of Elite: Dangerous? It had a ship spinning around and when it pointed at things (stars, planets, stations) a different noise ambience played.

It would be awesome if someone could find the video but I'm thinking that there could be a relation between the sound that plays when you are pointing at the 'unknown artefact' and a sound that plays when you point toward the artefact's home system/cluster/sector.

This is a link to the Video for the soundscapes, I was mentioned a couple of episodes ago on Lave Radio :

It's an amazing clip and might be of help with sound hunting :)

Yeah LHS 412-IV is a water world, its the one I spent the most time around. I basically went into low orbit, right on the edge of the SC drop out zone and orbited the planet for about 2 hours waiting for signal sources to pop up. I must have dropped into dozens of them and got plenty illicit loot from wrecks but no artifacts sadly. The AI Relics incident gives me hope there is at least a tie-in with the books.

But I think there's only so much guess work people can do and only so much time they can commit before the fun factor wears thin and it becomes a wild goose chase :D

Time for another hint Michael? :p

Thanks for posting this, I listened to that Laveradio episode two days ago and was disappointed I couldn't find any mention of where to find that video. Going to watch this later today!

Primary task - Find a canister of Unknown Artefacts and record audio from canister.
Secondary task - Collate information and clues to systems where said canisters might be to make them easier to find.

then we need to reassess where we are when we have that info. Follow the bread crumbs.

What, you want it handed on a plate? No, we are getting enough hints already, we just need to act on them. :) This could take days or weeks. That's fine by me. There are two bank holiday weekends in May (the first is this one :D ).

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but its kinda hard to sneakily read through 27 pages whilst I should be working!

I'm sure I saw a while ago (possibly on reddit) a screencap of a type-9 from a USS whose NPC crew were talking to themselves about their cargo, talking about hnit creeped them out, and I'm sure they mentioned the noises it made? I could be way off on this, but perhaps looking for the canisters directly isn't the right thing to do. Perhaps we should be hunting down ships with them as cargo?

I'm afraid I can't remember what system it was in, but I have a feeling it was a system that was currently suffering from a plague of some kind? That could be way off though.

Just a thought.

Need to find an unknown artefacts canister before we can progress. Spent a few hours in Peregrina today looking but no luck. I suspect that it's just a rare item in a strong signal source: either lying around as bait or held by a T9. I suggest that everyone who can find a couple of people to wing up with and hunt strong signal sources: at best someone will find an unknown artefact, and at worst they'll make some friends have and some fun.

As the "things" were introduced in the Wings update, I wouldn't be surprised if we need to form wings to make progress, either.

I have had 4 unknown Artefacts from Timocani or its neighbour systems.

I was farming alot of missions and pirating so I am unsure if I got from USS, WSS or interdicting haulers cos I was doing it all. I know I never touched a SSS cos I was alone.
Mind you, I only got 1 Unknown Artefact a week so it was very rare find. I know cause I was always pleased when I got one. I sold them all. :(

I'm more interested in the AI Relic myself. If I find one of those I'll dump it in Jacque's station and watch it become sentient.

I've seen one of those today. Poked and prodded it, dropped it and picked it up, and no signs of life. Perhaps the AI has evolved beyond talking in beeps and whistles?

Anyone know if the peregina faction control anything larger than a platform in the surounding systems? Fat clipper here...

Both stations in HIP 18609 (Willis Relay and Kessel Legacy) are outposts, and are the only stations that the Peregrina Aristocrats control outside of Peregina.
Both stations in Peregrina (Talos 1 and 2) are outposts too. You're gonna need a smaller boat.

I for my part remembered a highly unusual amount of Signal Sources during my trip 6500LY out 2 weeks ago.
So many, I actually complained about it in the forum. And back then running in an entirely unarmed Exploration Asp, I didn't venture into any of these many except one (4 Pirates in Cobras and Sidewinders).
Notably, it as in a very narrow area between 900 and 1000LY from SOL, just before leaving the spawn-bubble for Signal Sources and it was most pronounced in one single System I scanned, where it essentially peaked.
Back then, it was just highly unusual - but I registered it as more of an annoyance.

But despite trying to reconstruct my Routing and recreate it - so far I failed to reproduce anything like it.
It was between two easy-to-remember Waypoints I noted on paper, between HIP 102681 on course to HD 184388 (at -300 Y-Coordinate because my far Destination was at the same elevation).

I'll call it a day for now, the only Signal Sources I encountered were Weak Signal Sources at a rate of one every ~2 hours - only saw Hydrogen Fuel and Microbial Furnaces (illegal Salvage).

Eventually, I may move to the magic 1000LY barrier and return to 0 Y-Coordinate levels. If nothing unusual pops up, I'll return to my home Station and abandon that search for the proverbial Higgs Boson in the Haystack.
Way too frustrating.

Not to burst your bubble, but my understanding is you can't actually travel from one system to another in supercruise. You stay in the current system until you jump to another.

its posible.. around leesti there is 2 systems about 2 ly`s away from eachother.. knew a guy that actually did it though that was a long time ago

Yes. Let do not make it too overcomplicated: Do not forget we all did the same mistakes with the Titan Black, and in the end it was just a random system, remember? In this case Michael told us just to "listen". So the solution must be that simple: find it and listen.
In my opinion, there will be a kind of Alien voice talking, or something very similar to the Alien Movie signal, that nobody will be able to "translate". A kind of teaser for things to come soon. A Creepy one, i must say...
Creepy Alien voices in the dark, from a canister floating in the middle of nowhere... if that's not creepy...

No it wasn't random and people identified the clue "Nvidia" with "Rheinhardt Intellisys"; anagramed the hell out of the latter while missing the fact the logic of the phrase was 1+1=2. If you anagram "nvidiarheinhardtintellisys" you got a lot of 2's but it was there.

I'm p.o.'d, i've found both types of artifacts, and thought a new type of commodity "salvage" had been added and trade tools need updating but I'm guessing they only show up at a station when you happen to be carrying them. Didn't listen to them and forget where I found them. Now to backtrack through logs posts and dates,,,

Anyway if there are spectrogram clues, someone who's bought the cd audio, or maybe even the free ringtones and sounds, could do the job of spectrogramming them and the rest of ED's audio and see if there's anything there?

Probably just the canisters,,,but,,,

Feel free to try, but there are many other posts on this forum that have done this and found that it doesn't work. You remain in the instance of the system you jumped in to until you jump out of it to another.
