Unique, Strong and Weak Signal sources. They are encounter instances you see from Super-cruse.

Unidentified signal source - smaller ships or cargo

I read not the details added on the first post.
This thread is extremely interesting and I'm sad because there are no hints in Galnet, so we are researching almost blindly.
I hope that 1.3 will add some of this mystery stff too.

Ok have trawled the thread this morning and wanted to condense the search locations and leads:-

Polaris - historical and potential home of Thargoids - Permit required, not obtainable -Unknown Artefacts speculated to be possible permit

I spent the last couple of days in systems adjacent to Polaris, and saw a grand total of one/one USS and one/one WSS. All I got was four tons of "trade data" canisters as illegal salvage for my troubles, and some damage from a Fed dropship. IIRC there are no nearby systems within at least 200Ly of Polaris, so totally unclear as to whether you could even get the permit through missions (I doubt it, at least at the moment). Heading back to civilization now to repair and upgrade a bit, then will likely head to either LFT509 area or Peregrina.

Has anyone been checking out marketplaces in the Old Systems (Lave, Riedquat, etc.) for the supposed alien weaponry mentioned in Galnet? Might also pop in there if no one has been.

Yesterday I proposed that the Unknown Artifacts may give us access to Polaris.

However, I've been thinking.

Polaris requires "Polaris System Permit." This systems permit is as any other in human space etc and even others outside of human space that require said permits.

Now, there's one sector that's been brought up and left behind now. And that's the Regor Sector and as we know there's a hell of lot of systems that require a "Unknown System Permit."

(Why not the name of the star like all the others. For example: Sol System Permit, Vega System Permit....Polaris System Permit....)

Unknown Artifacts, Unknown System Permit....

I'm convinced they are linked until I'm proved otherwise.

I even think that the Unknown Artifacts will allow you to jump to these systems that require an "Unknown System Permit."

Now we just have to find them to test it.

:D

EDIT: Regor is the only sector with systems, it seems, that require "Unknown System Permits."

It may be a little stretched I know, but I still think there's a link or at least a possibility of one.

I couldn't find that GalNet article - does anyone have a link to it?

All the Naval Convoys in Timocani seem to have One Type 9 Heavy (and lots of Escorts) with Battle Weapons, Reactive Armour and Hafnium.

Easy to write, but almost a nightmare to do!
The guy who will find these damned canisters will probably sell them into a BM because he will no know what to do! WHY not writing something in Galnet in order to make all CMDRs aware of the importance of Unknow Artifacts?????

AAARRRGGHHHHH

Unknown Artifacts, Unknown System Permit....

Hmmm... Not sure about this one. Unknown is anything that isn't known... Just because a permit requirement and a canister are both unknown, it doesn't follow at all that they might be linked (not saying they couldn't be, but I think it is unlikely).

Is anyone doing anything around the old worlds (Lave, etc.)? They were specifically stated as locations where these artifacts are turning up, so there should be at least some effort there, I think. I'll be passing that way later, I can see if I can find anything.

There was a Galnet article. This is meant to be fun, stop stressing. ;) Just take your time, we'll get there eventually, no need to hurry.

Yeah, Regor is over 1,000 light years away.

(I've never been 100 light years pas past my home system system....haha)

Dam I hope it's one of us that finds one, I'm heading to the search areas now that the Volungu community event is over.

If we find one, who's going to take it to Regor? I think it's definitely worth the try once we've listened to it.

A seasoned explorer perhaps even with escorts incase there's an accident....

I'm pointing the fact that every other permit requiring system has the name of the star for the permit except the Regor Sector.

That's why I made the link, even if it's a little stretched. If I find one I'll be heading to Regor. After we've thoroughly observed the cannister and listened to it ofcourse.

With a well fitted ASP, you will arrive in Regor in 35 - 40 minutes, this is not a problem. The first thing to do i doing a good video anyway.

It's an interesting theory but I'm not so sure either.

After watching the Fiction series on YouTube I got the impression that (well assuming this is about Thargoids) we may learn some lore about them but there won't be any major encounters, or even any encounters, until later as the game continues to develop. Then again, those were posted in 2013 and we are approaching patch 1.3 now so....

Maybe Michael Brookes is trying to nudge us along as there is stuff that's been missed and more is coming?
