So I've been doing the CG in 78 Ursae Majoris, and I had a really good RES instance spawning tons of good bounties. I stayed there for a long time no problem... then I found an Anaconda named Jebidiah Kerman.

Needless to say he outmaneuvered me and my canopy in now breached ;)

I just made it into the station with 4 seconds left o.o
How much time did you spend writing that first post? :D

I'm not "actively" looking for convoys at this point but I'll start. So far in my travels if I have seen an SSS pop up I'll stop and check but that's it. I did seem to notice that most signals nowadays are about 75% Unidentified, 20% Weak and only 5% strong.. It's getting really difficult to find strong ones that's why I drop in on those if they do show up.

I think the UA has been sold at Leonard Nimoy station. Couldn't make sense of the statement after your question beyond "maybe we'll" also why did you use "ban" as a key?

There's something deeply disturbing about the idea of Witchspace without a canopy!

Witchspace is indeed trippy especially without a canopy... I'm more puzzled about survivability without a canopy in a stellar corona... well that and the inevitable micrometeorite strikes...

Not a good prospect either way.

The answer is probably "we don't know" but I'll ask anyway.

If I'm in a system which is regularly giving me Hafnium-containing convoys, is it only a matter of time before a UA shows up, or do those ones appear everywhere regardless of whether the UA can be acquired there?

We don't know. :) Very limited evidence seems to suggest that they show up relatively quickly. I wouldn't necessarily eliminate a system if one doesn't show in an hour or so but I'd make a note and move on. Perhaps move closer towards one of the known drops. See if a distinctive change in convoy composition starts to appear.

;)

Hmm - I'm pretty happy here apart from the weird compulsion to own a UA.

Conflict zone, nearby station, plenty of missions, but the best part - station has reported one ship (me) in the last 24 hours for two days running :)

Since we got that name Lyran Betar again in the GalNet news...

I've been toggle-searching for all Systems starting with Beta...

All of them are contained roughly within 1000LY of SOL.
All except one oddball :

Beta Phoenicis
ELITE-BetaPhoenicis.jpg

Nevermind that it's positioned 10985LY below the Galactic plane...
Bug ?

Alternative labels for it (acc. to Astronomy Databases) are : HIP 5165 and HD 6595 - which after toggle-searching point to that exact same location

With shields you should be ok. Without, not that good.

Interesting find. What is toggle-searching?

Interesting find. What is toggle-searching?

Just entering the starting Letters or Word in the Galaxy Map (partial search) and then pressing the Arrow Box right next to it - will toggle through all Systems that start with the letters/word entered in ascending order.
After all System names are exhausted, the search will begin to show Systems that have Stations/Outposts which names contain the search string.

PS.
In FFE Beta Lyrae was unreachable due to the Game crashing.
This one is unreachable due to its (bugged?) location. Still unreachable thou, so that would keep in line with the old meme ;)
