I see that Drew hinted that there may be FSD drives of an unkown origin that can operate beyond the limitations of current ones.

Is it possible that the Unknown Artefacts are in fact Thargoid (or another alien race) FSD Drives capable of travel to these strange permit only systems?

I doubt the game would just let you install an Unknown Artefact of the bat, but it may be that Lady Kahina's ship will attempt to do just that after the 1.3 update.

This is just speculation though, so feel free to shoot it down if there's evidence to the contrary. Of course, this doesn't solve any of the additional puzzles that Drew posed.

It has definitely been speculated and supported by lore (from previous games admittedly) in that Thargoid drives were organic in nature.

As fuel yes. But Tantalum is used in the production of the drives in some way it seems.

Our power suply probably creates energy tru fusion. Regular Hydrogen is not the best for this. You need Deuterium and Tritium for regular (sun type) fusion. Tantalum / Hafnium could be used to enrich the Hydrogen with more neutrons?

Probably better if someone with "actual" knowledge about the subject comments

When I was at LFT 926 doing missions for the pilots federation there was a system next-door that had a really strange description that the factions of this system were keeping a dark secret, I did post about it a long time ago here but it did't catch any ideas other than I guess it's the Dark Wheel again at this system somewhere hiding.
The Thargoid's drives are biological but since we have many metals in our human bodies, then it's only acceptable to think that the UA may only be used/activated by another alien item with a similar interface maybe, this idea of an FSD has got the most plausible credibility I believe though chaps.
