Ok I will be home form work in one hour. I 'am currently still in HIP 18609 does anyone know if the permit is lifted for Peregrina ? If not I will head out to a new location to search. Hopefully if it rains in Blighty tomorrow i can dodge cutting the grass and search all weekend :D

Sorry I missed the quotes last time. Yes as far as I know the permit is still required.

Federation, Empire, Alliance space,
Nebulae,
There are various named "regions" in the Galaxy map.

I know someone with a list of all the non procedural "regions" in the galaxy, will try to get it from him but hes not been on for a few days

Dark Regions are the only areas with the word in the name (I think?), and may tie in with the lore about "Dark Systems"?

you could be right all nebula regions are called sector I think

well, being the OP does get you some preference :)

Waiting to see if there are any more comments before doing anything.

(and finishing my jumps to get to Peregina)

Actually based on the few who have expressed a preference, my opinion and more importantly reading back through this thread and all the posts of people not taking part in it that say they are enjoying so much following it I would like this thread moved back into the main area.

Well, some of us are explorers. :)

It also is far easier to read here, then with the annoying white background in the exploration forum.

To me Michaels comment on them only being in one region just means, the area that can spawn SSS/WSS/USS.

So i think they're just a VERY low drop rate from any signal source, in any system capable of spawning them.

systems around Polaris? I know it's been mentioned, but he did say the spawn was exceedingly rare, didn't he?

I think this is probably the consensus yes. But what is the region(s) that they spawn in!? He did say regions. I'm still leaning towards nebulae.

They were (very rarely) spawning USS and WSS when I was there a couple of days ago, but turned up nothing of interest. None of the previous-permit systems I have hit so far today in the Pleiades have spawned anything yet.

I'll try and find the quote, but signal sources seem to stop spawning at a certain distance from inhabited space. So my guess is that artifacts can appear anywhere cable of spawning a signal source of any kind, but just at a .1% chance or similar.

I could be wrong, but after 3 days of solid SS hunting, I'm fresh out of ideas, and think this has to be the case :{

Jumping to Pleione right now.

Looks like plenty of CMDRs have visited the system during previous permit lapses. :)

It only just occurred to me that I had visited Pleione myself, back in February. I had no idea it was permit-locked before. My diary comments at the time were "like the Solar system but... harsher."
