Sothis Community Goal Guide

Little update: just got to 15% with 1024T total delivery (from 864 at 30%).
Things are very quit in my instance at the moment, no pirates and nobody at the station.

I was interdicted twice this time. I evaded the first attempt, but I think something went wrong during the second as it only lasted a couple of seconds and I couldn't find the escape vector  it zoomed off screen right at the start then <BANG!> FSD Failure and I was back in normal space.

Something else strange - it said he was number 2 in a wing of 2, but his wingman didn't appear. I'm guessing he ended up in a different instance. Hmm, maybe he'd winged up with something bigger? <shrug>

I was his wingman in the FDL, unfortunately he had a slow internet connection so we kept getting split into different instances. On that occasion we both interdicted you at the same time (instance bug?) and I got kicked out of supercruise into empty space with a long cool-down... hence why you had a lone adder to fight lol :)

The instancing gods were kind to you!

Sure I posted this before, but I can't find it now - a couple of low-supply gold sources:

Matuveltan, 336 Ly from Sothis, personally seen quantities ranging from 70+ to 20+ tonnes.

Any Minurok, 330 Ly from Sothis, close to Matuveltan, only just found it, 50+ tonnes.

Just popped in myself with 72 tons in the old faithful "Kiss My" Asp.
No incidents along the way apart from an NPC Sidey. Very quiet, not seen a single player, had to check I was in Open! Must be my instance.

Getting close to next tier...

What? He's no ganker. He pirated me a couple of hours ago, fair and square. I complied and he only asked for 5 tonnes of gold. Very nice. Then he escorted me to Newholm.

Ganker, no. Gentleman, yes.

Lucky you then. I got interdicted and saw the insurance screen next. No chatter, straight-up murdering.

He likes fireworks, and just uses what FDev have provided (lasers).

dodged a bullet there I guess... You complied and greeted him?

Complied but wasn't given chance to greet. No biggie, I didn't lose enough to be bothered, and I had better things to do than play anyway ;-)

Remind me, who were you i.e. what ship you flew, etc.

I ask because your definition of "complied" and my definition of "complied" might be quite different. If you did any of the following, in my eyes, it's not complying:

1) Successfully evade interdiction, requiring me to interdict you multiple times.
2) Boosting or moving away at any speed.
3) Charge your FSD.
4) Deploy hardpoints to fight.
5) Going into silent running.

Doing any of the above is non-compliance, and will result in ship destruction. To avoid ship destruction, bring your ship to a complete stop, at which point I will say 'hello' cargo scan you, and specify an amount of cargo to be jettisoned as 'abandoned'. Assuming full compliance, you'd be free to go at that point.

I take issue with (1) - I think that's fair....

My view, we start talking after you successfully interdict me... how else could there be any respect?

You are of course entitled to your own point of view. And I respect it, I get where you're coming from. But one of the advantages of piracy is that in a pirating encounter, mine is the only point of view that matters - especially if you're relying on my mercy.

It isn't fair, I freely admit that. But then piracy was never about being fair.

Man this is proving to be a tough CG. It's clear that there are between eighty and one hundred very dedicated commanders out there - remains to be seen if I'm one of them!

Currently takes about 3000 tonnes to be top 5%...

Woah, hold on a second - I submitted to the interdiction (I didn't try to evade it). Once out of supercruise I boosted away, set target to another system and started charging FSD. Then BOOM. That was our first ever encounter.

If your intentions are to get cargo, shoot out drives and use limpets. At least say "I want X cargo, stop now or I'll shoot".

You are in a superior ship to what I was flying, with the added advantage of being outfitted for PVP, after all.

I'm not against piracy, I believe it can add to a much richer game, but I haven't experienced any players doing it right yet, unfortunately.

I see. Just another big ego with real life issues. Thank you for advertising Mobius/ Solo.
