Welcome back, Park Managers, to our latest Species Field Guide - and our first since launch!
In this series of articles, we've been spotlighting and discussing some of the incredible dinosaurs and reptiles you're now able to bioengineer and care for in Jurassic World Evolution 2. With over 75 different species of prehistoric animals, by now you'll have met both new and familiar faces, and we are incredibly excited to be able to highlight them!
Last time, we introduced you to Cryolophosaurus, the 'frozen crested lizard', but this time around we'll be taking a deep dive and sharing a little more information on one of our brand new marine reptiles, Tylosaurus!
Tylosaurus, a late-Cretaceous marine reptile, is one of the largest Mosasaurs to ever have existed, growing up to 14m in length. Tylosaurus was also an apex preparator, and is thought to have devoured a range of fish and other sea life - including sharks, Plesiosaurs, and even other Mosasaurs - which they located with their snout and devoured with two rows of pointy, cone-shaped teeth. Using their long, flattened tail, Tylosaurus was able to catch prey through short, rapid bursts of acceleration.
Interestingly, Tylosaurus was closely related to snakes - and, when considering their slim, streamlined, serpent-like body covered in scales, it's easy to see the genetic resemblance!
Tylosaurus will live in lagoons in your parks, and as such a formidable predator, it's probably unsurprising that they are more than happy in their own company, so more than one per habitat won't be required. Just ensure they have plenty of space to swim around in, and a fish-heavy diet, and they should be pretty content.
We're so pleased to have been able to highlight Tylosaurus for you - they're a great addition to any lagoon! Have you bioengineered any for your parks yet? Let us know in the comments.
