[Speculation] Commanders, no walking inside your ships for Odyssey

I think we can go by the concept art in the backgound that has previously been shown as an indicator of what to expect. We will get meeting places on planetary bases where players can interact with each other, procedural settlements that we can walk around get and complete missions by interacting with NPCs ect. I don't think we will get station, fleet carrier or ship interiors. Basically that which is practical for the devs to cost effectively develop. I am actually looking forward to being able to walk around and fly on planets with tenous atmospheres and the footage all looks good to me, but I was a beta backer so it won't cost me any more money to do so.

Hopefully if FD are sucessful and sell a lot of DLC with Oddessy, we may get further content in the future, but when it comes to redundant 3d models and textures like the inside of our ships I would not hold your breath. Like I said if you want to do that sort of thing get Star Citizen. People all want to walk around inside their ships but believe me the novelty will get old very quick and soon show to be a waste of time and effort, and the devs happen to know this already because they are game developers.

I play Star Citizen aswell as Elite, Space Engineers, X4, NMS and Empyrion. plus a multitude of other Space game genres like stellaris etc.
I do agree that walking in your ship is a novelty thats short lived but I didnt actually mention walking in your ship. I agreed with you :)

I do wish to point this out...

When Odyssey was first announced, people immediately began asking about VR, base building, interiors, atmospheres, etc... And base building was almost instantly shot down, along with vr. You'd figure if interiors weren't a part of odyssey, they would've shot that down as well, but....

Not to raise anyone's expectations or anything, just throwing that out there.
Valid point, but I simply cannot believe they would hide such a big feature for, literally, no reason. They accomplish nothing by hiding it. Nothing, except making the player base frustrated.

I posted an inquiry on this, during Odyssey reveal. A few had already been under this impression, stating that the transition from ship to foot would very likely be handled as the SRV mechanic is handled. So I've just been assuming the same. Basically just a fade out to black, some walking sounds and then a fading in on time to maybe catch an elevator lowering you to the surface. Or ladder animation.

What if find dissapointing is they keep talking about this Armstrong moment, without showing anything like it...
For me this Armostrong moment is about opening the door of the ship on a new world, then go down the stairs to make a first step...

Well...

We all suspected it, but now it's been "confirmed" that we'll be able to walk only on the planetary surfaces. Devs were really specific about that one. So, everyone who hoped that we'll finally be able to jog around our Anaconda, tough luck.
Yeah, well he also said this

Now imagine, how are you going to set foot on a planet, when you are just gonna get thrown down through the airlock, or put on the surface like the RSV?
Hmm?

Confirmed my arx.

Oh come on. They need to have a few surprises down the line for the next episodes.
It's still at least half a year to release.

Obsidian Ant has a video out today (I think some content creators probably got the video in advance) and he points out the obvious - if fdev were going to include in cockpit first person, would they throw it in with this video, or would they leave it until much later for full effect?

(and to be clear, he's not suggesting it IS going to be included, he's no clue like the rest of us)

Clickbait headline. This audio clip doesn't confirm anything other than you will be able to walk on planets.

Crazy idea, but bear with me here - maybe this video wasn't intended to tell us everything?

I couldn't resist it... :ROFLMAO:

You realize these are Dev DIARIES as in more than one on the subject. Generally, the Diaries are subject focused and they split what they talk about between videos. And I would challenge that assumption by the fact that didn't the Russian hacker folks (Gotta love those guys) find file references to file names of ship interior parts? And there is concept art of ship and station interiors. In fact, wasn't there a Bar concept art behind one of them in that vid?

So cool your jets Hoss, let's get a few more dev diaries out first before we consider ship interiors as "confirmed not coming."
Just ask yourself what is more likely:
  1. Frontier will keep hiding this huge game feature until the very release, without mentioning it anywhere? Top secret? Or...
  2. It's not in the game, therefore, it isn't coming.

by your logic, we won't be seeing internal spaces at all,as we havent seen them yet. So you're really claiming there isn't anything we havent seen yet.

Bizarre.

I dont believe you believe that, which implies ...

Whats is so big about it?

I really hope I don't have to unbuckle, stand up, turn around, walk to the door, push a button, wait for an elevator, open the door, close the door, push the button, wait for the elevator to start moving and then stop moving, open the door, walk through hallway, turn left, walk through another hallway, open another door, close the wrong door, open the right door, walk through the cargo bay (ignoring the screaming canisters of imp slaves), go to the airlock to come to the conclusion I forgot my helmet.

Its fun for the first 2 exits, but every time the same doom level before able to get out? Nuh-uh.

This. There is no reason why walking inside your ship, providing it's planned, wouldn't be shown in the previous or this video. It's simply not there, people.
