It's a difficult discussion really. With other packs I would always be positive and think, the animal missing is probably gonna be in the next pack. But with the last pack incoming it's not realistic anymore. I feel like they are gonna go with the america's pack, which seems natural after eurasian/oceania/arid covering the other parts of the world. Yeah I think the answer tp most people’s questions about “when is “insert animal here” coming” is simply that they’re not coming.

I can whole heartly agree with that, to be honest. It was a sad, last full year with lots of missed opportunities. For me, I only loved the Eurasia pack, the others were just "well...". Especially the tropical pack could have been way better in my opinion.
But well, lets see what's in the last pack, maybe it's a good mash up that fills some gaps the other packs left.

Honestly I’m not even talking about just birds:

  1. Spectacled bear
  2. A new world monkey
  3. Pallas cat
  4. Hamadryas baboon
  5. Gelada
  6. Markhor
  7. Hyraxes
  8. Giant salamanders
TBH I remember watching the stream for the Tropical pack and telling my GF I garuntee the last drink is for the rainbow lorikeet in the walkthrough. Lorikeets are also nectar drinkers which the mixed drink was based on, come to my surprise the next day it’s a bat. I’ll admit it’s my fault for getting my hopes up, but man.

To be more positive, I actually like and use all the new animals. But yeah, they were good to fill up certain regions. As final DLCs they could have been more exciting though.

According to this reasoning we’d never go beyond a base game of only a few animals because everything else is ‘clones’ and all our zoos would be the same, boring lineup.

Probably sticking to the regular formula if it's basically a standard pack with scenery. Only in a case of a unique theme like birds can I see more animals getting more work done than usual.

What i hope for:

1. Coati (adapted rig from red panda/fossa/raccoon/binturong whatever arboreal works)
2. Patagonian mara (new rigs, or adapted capybara rig, even gazelle rig)
3. Rhea (clone)
4. Pelican (from swan rig, needs work on head and beak)
5. Ocelot (clone) or bear (clone)
6. Monkey 1 (capuchin clone, adapted rig maybe howler or squirrel monkey)
7. Monkey 2 (unique rig, spider or Golden lion tamarin)
8. Whatever exhibit idc

But new rigs don’t equal satisfaction. A lot of the remaining top animals can be reused from other rigs, pelican (swan), ocelot Pallas cat or serval (caracal or sand cat), baboon (mandrill with some slight modifications), Rhea (ostrich), duck (swan), dwarf goat (sheep), 2 last bears (other bear rigs), Mara (Capy) crowned crane (crane), walrus (seal), the list goes on.

The only 3 that would probably need a new rig are the Secretary bird, spider monkey and the coati.

Yeah it is. The simpler reskins like most ungulates, cats, dogs and bears can be reasonably provided by mods. Whereas animals that require a new rig, or atleast a modified ones are way harder to mod, especially if you want them to move believeable.

So imo a smaller pack that has alot of new rigs is preferable to a bigger pack that is following the classic formular

I’m gonna say something out of character: as much as I love it, I hope the last pack isn’t (all) birds. Unless they finally give flying birds there is no way people would be happy with an all birds pack at this point. So I would rather everyone gets a bit of everything (except if frontier gives at least a bit more birds than normal please and thank you) that a pack that would only satisfy me and some others.

I don't want an all birds pack either now. If LATAM had their missing essentials already i wouldn't mind that much. But as much as i want a ton of birds i rather get a LATAM pack or an all américas pack rather than a pack focus on one group animals. I feel the same about an all primates pack.
