Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

I will say I have also never felt specifically unwelcomed or targeted. Granted, the animals I want the most no one can really argue they are ““not needed””.

But because it is fun here would be my island pack:

  1. Tree kangaroo
  2. Coconut Crab
  3. Radiated tortoise
  4. Crested macaque
  5. American flamingo
  6. Nene
  7. Victoria crowned pigeon
  8. Jackson chameleon

The dog of my best friends uncle work at Frontier, and he told me that. Haha :ROFLMAO:
I KNEW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS HAPPENING GUYS!!!!!

THE STARS HAVE ALIGNED, ITS SO OBVIOUS WE HAVENT SEEN IT COMING

I think you are all being ridiculous, obviously the last pack will be the BIRD EXPANSION I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR. ISNT IT OBVIOUS, THE SIGNS ARE THERE!?!?!? IM NOT CRAZY 🤪
I honestly feel being called out... deep inside it's what we all desire........................ right

Like saving birds for last... that would be such a genius and evil move....

I don't think another islands pack is happening, specially if we only have a couple of DLCs left but is always fun to come up with an animal roster so... For me a perfect islands pack would have to be something that covers islands around the world and iconic ones at that...

1. Aye-aye (Madagascar)
2. Japanese serow (Japan)
3. Nene goose (Hawaii)
4. Marine iguana (Galapagos)
5. American / Caribbean flamingo (Caribbean)
6. Victoria crowned pigeon (New Guinea)
7. Tree kangaroo (New Guinea)
8. Ex: tuatara (New Zealand) / WTE: Chameleons (Madagascar)

Sure two additions to New Guinea, i guess the pigeon could be exchanged for something from the Phillipines or the Christmas Islands coconut crabs for something more unique but i just can't see them as habitat animals. And i really just want the pigeon lol and we deserve more than one bird in an animal pack at this point.

You wanna talk about stress? You wanna talk about stress?! OK! I've stumbled onto a major Frontier conspiracy, Forum--how 'bout that for stress?

This company is being bled like a stuck pig, Forum, and I've got a paper trail to prove it. Check this out. [Goes to a wall covered in paper and string] Take a look at this.

That right there is the DLCs. Now let's talk about the DLCs. Can we talk about the DLCs, please, Forum? I've been dying to talk about the DLCs with you all day, OK? "Flying birds," this name keeps coming up over and over again. Every day flying birds DLC is getting requested back to me. Flying birds! Flying birds! I look in the forums, and this whole thread is flying birds! So I say to myself, "We gotta get these birds! I gotta go up to the Frontier offices and put these requests in the company's goddamn hands! Otherwise, they are never going to get it and they are going to keep coming back down here." So I go up to the Frontier office and what do I find out, Forum? What do I find out?! There is no flying birds. The animals do not exist, okay? So I decide, "Oh s**t, buddy, I gotta dig a little deeper." There's no flying birds? You gotta be kidding me! I GOT BOXES FULL OF FLYING BIRD! All right. So I start marchin' my way down for primates in HR and I knock on her door and I say, "PRIMATES!!! PRIMATES!!! I GOTTA TALK TO YOU ABOUT THE FLYING BIRDS." And when I open the door what do I find? There's not a single goddamn monkey in that pack! There...is...no...primates in PZ. Forum, half the animals in this building have been made up.

Wait I like this DLC easter egg idea…. That would be super fun.

If you were going to put an easter egg in the console release, for your expected/dream pack, what would it be?

Mine would be… hmm… something super obscure like a new design on the coffee cups that has a coati tail wraparound, or a design with macaw feathers. Only us psychotically obsessed fans would notice it.

Geez I missed a lot over one night 😅
Like saving birds for last...
I’m still not 100% given up on a habitat birds animal pack for the finale. It can cover most of the continents, can have a lot of easy rigs and clones, and it can almost double our bird roster in game.

I would imagine a pack like:
  • Secretary Bird; An obligatory inclusion seeing how it’s the #1 ask right now, it would need a new rig or at least a lot of work to change the walking and build in general.
  • Australian Pelican; Would do great things for Australia rep, plus the pelican seems to very high on people’s bird wishes nowadays.
  • Greater Rhea; South America rep, easy clone, pretty self explanatory.
  • Canadian Goose; We need some sort of NA rep and the goose can easily be made off of the swan model, there already is a really good mod of it so I can’t imagine it takes that much work but what do I know about modelling.
  • Macaws (WTE) JWE2 got birds in its finale expansion and that was just one species, I don’t see why we can’t have the same situation here, get one species as a preview of what’s to come in PZ2.
  • Golden Pheasant; Another clone based off of the peafowl, but I could see how this one could be tricky with the feather textures. It would be a shame though if they never reused the peafowl rig.
  • Victoria Crowned Pigeon; I know it’s a second Australian species, but these guys are so cool and would be such a cool species for Australian areas. This would be the other new rig of the pack.
  • Scarlet Ibis; Feels cheap to give South America a new bird but it be something on the less attractive side, so I’ll add in this guy as well to balance the scales. Would probably use the kiwi or peafowl rig possibly, with new jumping animations.
It’s not a South America expansion but I personally enjoy this much more.

Just trying to feel the room, because of the lack of the lqa, is it essentially confirmed the next DLC will not be released concurrently with the console, nor the usual week of Easter slot either, correct?

Honestly I think my desire for birds extends more than just how much I like them, I think they can serve three viable places for gameplay purposes:

  1. They make excellent filler animals. A weird thing to say for animals I like so much, but that is important in this game. Not many animals can take up under 2000 square feet, but you could fit multiple birds in such a spot. Wether it is ducks, hornbills, cranes, or others that is invaluable in a zoo building game. Did you just make a large habitat for a tiger? Do you have a bit of space in between the tiger and the next animal in your Asia section? Place a golden pheasant or red crowned crane. They take up less space than other animals, and if you have welfare off they can even take up less space but still be believable.
  2. They improve diversity, and therefore provide more options. This fits into option 1 but is an expansion on it. I’ll provide an example. Do you want to build a North America section, but are bored of the same moose, pronghorn, bison, and alligators? Well, if you have the burrowing owl, and roadrunner you can combine them with the peccary and jaguar to make a Sonoran Desert/ Sierra Madre. You can even use the Gila Monster and some of the other exhibit animals to flesh out the area. If you have already used an ostrich with the hoofstock too much you could use something else. Sick of the Greater Flamingo? Use the American Flamingo! Do you want to make a small Australian section, but are bored to death about the emu or cassowary? Now you have a black swan!
  3. Interspecies enrichment and making multi species habitat. Do you want an African Savannah? Do you want to add some spice to it? Throw down the grey crowned crane and helmeted guinea fowl and now the habitat is even more realistic. Put down a little beaver pond? Add some ducks and multiple animals will exhibit natural behaviors. Just built an indoor rainforest for your monkeys and capybara? Now tinamou run along the bottom while scarlet ibis sit in trees above.
I don’t just constantly yammer on about birds just because they are my second favorite group of animals, and are poorly represented in a zoo game. I genuinely miss the amount of gameplay experiences I miss out without them.
