Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

Interestingly, Planet Zoo posted a link to a survey to "help shape future games" via FaceBook. Here's a link to the survey itself. It mostly asks about how many DLC you've purchased, what's most important to you about various aspects of the Frontier Games that you play/have played, etc.

Nothing new or major but definitely interesting to see that they're asking folks broadly what drives their enjoyment of their games... Curious to see if this spurs another round of "sequel" or "this is the end" chatter (though I hope not on both counts). It definitely means they want to explore what's made PZ and PlanCo as successful as they have been.

Done, thanks for the link! Choosing between scenery or animals is a though question, like mom or dad. But I chose animals because in this moment I would trade 10 building themes with hundreds of pieces for just a couple of flying bird species and a sad fish in a tank.

Any generic themes you guys think are great additions to the game?
I once said that I'm dying for a second set of concrete walls where you can see the framework, like this one:
concrete framework

The one from the basegame is too smooth and the one from Conservation DLC isn't really what I want. I need them for brutalistic reasons like these ones:
Ouwehands orang
Wilhelma cheetah
Madrid lions
Madrid ibex

That's it folks, it's over! This is our last waltz, turn off the lights for the last one to leave.

I think it's very likely we have 2 or less DLC left. I still hold out hope for 2 - something Latin America themed and some kind of "round up" of the rest of the world, but it could easily be just 1. Either way, even if it were 2 DLC left, I"m sure the rosters are already set, nothing of the survey would affect decisions on theme/animals even for a June release.

That survey was....weird

Nothing important was said in there, the questions regarding the game where way to generic and unspecific or just kinda dumb for example do you like building a zoo in a zoo game? No no totally not

Is management important to you?
Well yes it would be, its my favorite video game genre but planet zoo is only a management game in its steam tags.

What was i suppoused to answer there?
Yes its very important to me but i literally do not interact with any "management" feature because most of them arnt management but tedium.

What do you buy new packs for?
Actually lists scenarios as an exclusive answer next to animals and scenery, as if anyone is gonna pick that.

Most of the survey would have benefitted alot from being able to assign numbers or having a text box to write in additional context, as rn the only informations that frontier got that arnt just the most generic and obvious stuff like that i think that animal variety is in fact very important in a zoo game (take notes frontier) is my personal information, that im a young addult from germany who enjoys mamagement and strategy games, aswell as league of legends.
It felt much more like they are trying to asses their audience range instead of actually trying to gather meaningfull feedback about their game

Perhaps the survey is to help them with Planet Aquarium. ;)

Bring it on Frontier, I will be happy to support a Planet Aquarium just as much as I've supported Planet Zoo. I've got a huge interest in marine animals, and with it extremely unlikely we get them in PZ at this point, I think a separate game is the best we can hope for. I'm also not too chuffed about the whole cetacean issue - real life I"m not for it, but it's a game, it's fine by me. They're also some of the more well known and likely candidates for marine animal inclusions, you take away all the cetaceans, sharks and other large marine animals...what do you have left to put in the game? West Indian Manatee might be a great inclusions as a singular animal but it's not going to carry the game on its own.

Never, i doubt its really about anything but us the players.
If it would have anything to do with that you think we would have atleast had question about our opinion on depicting crtaceans in captivity or something

From which zoo is the chettah exibith? Most of these are from madrid zoo

I don't know if it's appropriate to say it here, but I really want to ask... Why is there no Chinese or other Asian language options for the questionnaire on "the future"? One thing I have been saying is that language barriers really make it easy for us to ignore the needs of players in some regions. I would like to appeal here to please use more language options to conduct questionnaires about the "future". Players in this region should not be ignored!

An unfortunate natural bias I think, I’m sure it’s not intentional. Still you have a point, if the questionnaire is to help show what the community is looking for and a good portion of the community is unable to voice their concerns.

It could maybe, when it comes to games like Planet Zoo the questionnaire asked some very generic questions. I honestly wouldn’t look into it a whole lot. They asked if people care for animal variety in a zoo game, which to me that would seem like a no brainer. I understand other people play this game for the building, maybe Frontier is trying to see if they could make a building only type of game? Or maybe more they want to see if they should focus on the animals? I don’t know, either the survey means something valuable or it doesn’t.

I’m sure they are cooking up something, but I do find it odd the survey didn’t seem to let you provide your own feedback. I’m sure that’s so Frontier doesn’t have to let someone personally read a thousand+ survey results. They probably wanted to collect easy data first.

Chinese not being available seems strange, its such a major language.
Does Planet Zoo maybe have a different publisher in asia? I know thats the case for some other games.
Could maybe be the explanation

I actually also hope for a sequel to the game, with the implementation of 100% aquatic and richer bird life, which I can't understand how it was so ignored in this game.

I also hope for changes to the gameplay to make it simpler and more intuitive.

and I wanted the snakes for enclosures, not for mini enclosures.
