Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

And that's what's super yuck to me here.
While I get your point, it's a matter of "how does this affect me" that comes into play.

Console players got their game despite the layoffs. We're still getting another DLC despite the layoffs. Therefore, while layoffs suck, they haven't had a direct effect on the players (as yet). If our last DLC proves to be sh*te because Frontier no longer has the staff to give us a proper sendoff, then I imagine the layoffs will be one of the reasons speculated and there will be more righteous anger about it.

I feel like a hot dropped potato. After all, we are part of the reason why this game is so successful and what is the thanks?
If I had to guess the lack of anything related to planet zoo for PC is due to the team being smaller, and also the console is kind of big news that requires all hands on deck. Regardless of how people feel over the preorder business, console is a huge deal so we can wait a couple months.
GUYS. OMG THE HUMMINGBIRD MOD. SO BEAUTIFUL.
THE WHAT

Another flamingo is a necessity, must have pink flamingo!
Agreed! I want my babies 🥰

Yeah, but that's what I'm getting at. The people that complain here are PC players. They aren't effected either, in any way.

By the way, the JWE2 players didn't get free features with their recent DLC. In my opinion that's clearly because lack of staff. I'm unfortunately quite sure that's where we will be effected too, soon. It's just a matter of time.

Just to temper expectations... There's still no outsource file update in SteamDB so I don't think we should be expecting any teases or announcements in the coming days. That tends to get updated 3-4 weeks out from any of that.

I know some people (including myself) were anticipating an announcement shortly after the console release but given the lack of the outsource file it's fair to assume the wait will be a bit longer.

Expect it to be updated 5 weeks in advance, that's what jwe2 got. For now, it's a long wait until a most likely may release.

Could be shorter, could even be longer. Hah. I'm expecting an early- to mid-May release at this point so... That all adds up. End of May wouldn't make sense if they're trying to bolster finances for FY24. Gotta give it a week or two ahead of close to let those sales simmer!

At this point we kinda know about when the DLC will land. So seeing the SteamDB get updated with our own eyes will mostly just alleviate the chatter about "no more DLC coming" that keeps popping up. Haha.

I would imagine that staffing is an issue across the board... But I'm not sure we should expect the same for Planet Zoo just yet. They've definitely demonstrated more loyalty toward their own IP (e.g., Elite: Dangerous still receiving support all these years later and in general the PZ updates have toppled the JWE2 ones when you put them side-by-side). Which makes sense...

And with Planet Zoo there is a lot of low-hanging fruit they could add to give us something in a free update that people would enjoy (e.g., flexicolor versions of base game and early DLC building pieces, new font pieces, new multimedia sign sizes/shapes, something that utilizes the same functionality as the viewing domes and restaurants).

I'm not expecting anything game-changing this time around but there's certainly some "low rent" ways to provide us with a solid update alongside the DLC.
