Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

so first you want a mara more than a hyrax and now this
I would prefer the hyrax, I only chose the mara cause it would do more for SA, but I stand by my decisions against this bird. I've set my line in the sand lol.

oh really, I know you enjoyed the little rock potato's but not that much. but I am still disappointed in your opinion on the bird, the burrowing owl mafia is coming for you. ok but for real, ignoring birds that can't work for habitats (like doves or macaws) what five birds do you want most, for me.
Mandarin Duck
Scarlet Ibis
Burrowing Owl or Roadrunner
Dalmation Pelican
Southern Screamer or Southern Ground Hornbill

For me:
Mandarin Duck
Roseate Spoonbill
Grey Crowned Crane
Southern Screamer
Brown Pelican or any other pelican

YEA BABY!!!!
I got a challenge, let's talk about the worst outcome possible for a SA pack, only rule is it has to be a scenery or animal pack.

Neotropical Pack
White-Tailed Deer
Tufted Capuchin
Andean Moutain Cat
Kinkajou
(Exhibit Animal) Gray Wall Jumping Spider
(edit: wait we have not been promised a dlc yet 🙃!)

Worst outcome ever. A scenery pack and it has

Spectacled bear
American flamingo
Kinkajou or tayra
Second capuchin
Ex: another tarantula

I don't hate the spectacled bear but i imagine the worst possible outcome being a scenery pack when it is the one pick from the metawishlist and they give us a bird but is the most boring one of the pink trio. Kinkajou or tayra as an oddball in a scenery pack (or even in an animal pack) would be a wanted opportunity for something more important and common in zoos like ocelot, coati or mara. And we get another monkey but it is a straight capuchin clone. And not even the ex animal is interesting. A scenery pack with a roster like this would feel like a cruel joke.

Now, i believe is somewhat realistic to expect the coati and the spectacled bear since they are high in the metawishlist, and hopefully a howler as well, but something like:

Coati
Bear
Howler
Flamingo

Would also be kind of dissapointing tbh, just not as horrible as the first roster since at least we get the coati and howler. And tbh it feels like something Frontier would do unfortunally. That is why a scenery pack for LATAM would be a nightmare scenario in itself. At least with an animal pack if we get the flamingo and the bear i get 5 other animals that would probably like.

Mandarin Duck
Scarlet Ibis
Burrowing Owl or Roadrunner
Dalmation Pelican
Southern Screamer or Southern Ground Hornbill

Greater rhea
Scarlet ibis or Roseatte spoonbill
Mandarín duck
Burrowing owl (is pretty much our only chance to get an owl, plus they are cute and funny and they are widespread across the Américas)
Grey crowned crane

Honorable mentions to: Golden pheasant, secretary bird, Brown pelican and cappercaillie which complete my top 10. Roadrunner is also a favorite of mine but doesn't make it into the top ten by very little.

Worst case scenario for me would be a SA scenery pack with the following animals:

Another flamingo
W. T. Deer
Black Cayman
Bald uakari (it just looks quite creepy, sorry)
+some kind of average beetle or spider for exhibit box (we have too many spiders I think)

  1. Duck, preferably WFWD but I’ll take what I can get
  2. South America bird, another tropical species can be any of the pink trio or another surprise
  3. African bird, another species that can cohabitate, like the grey crowned crane, ground hornbill, or Guinea fowl
  4. Another tropical species, either SA or Africa
  5. A bird for NA
At this point the birds I want are more based on the niche they fill. Being burned out a bit I stopped caring for specifics as much.

My top 5 selfishness picks would basically be:
1- Marabou
2- Scaly-sided merganser
3- Dalmatian pelican (I know great white would be a way better pick but it's my sleepover and I get to pick the movie)
4- Nene
5- Blue-eared pheasant

honestly (speaking as someone not from NA) I wouldn’t consider the abb as being iconic to NA. I’m aware that they’re there but NA’s iconic bear is the grizzly without question. Is the ABB only iconic to those who live there?
The grizzly is the more impressive and dangerous one of the two. They are featured in more documentaries. However, their range doesn't overlap with people much, partially through human activity, but it isn't a "local" species for most people.

Black bears have a much larger range, including that of grizzlies, plus tropical southern Florida, some of the subtropical southeast, the Appalachian mountains, arid sections of the southwest, the west coast's Mediterranean, and the edges of the grasslands.

Not saying the ZT1 roster was perfect, but I think ZT1 had a good understanding of the icons across North America, not just focusing on the Canadian wilderness documentaries. The East Coast had its black bear; the West Coast had its sea lion and sea otter; the Rocky Mountains and Southwest had the mountain lion and bighorn sheep; the taiga/northern pine forests had its grizzly, wolf, and moose; and the tundra had its polar bear and caribou. It was missing most small mammals, especially the prairie dog, wolverine, and beaver. There also weren't any NA birds, but I think the bald eagle was in the bird house. They only had one crocodilian, so I guess ours was missing, too.

I'm from the east coast, but several hours on a fast highway north of alligators and far south of moose. I want the icon of the Appalachian mountains, the black bear.

Our big icons should include wolves, cougars, bears (all 3), the alligator, sea lion, moose, bison, and probably the bighorn sheep.

The small ones include the beaver, prairie dog (not one most people would list, but insanely popular with kids in zoos), wolverine, and an otter, probably the sea otter. Probably a bird or two, as well.

The internationally popular ones seem to include other woodland critters, mainly the raccoon, skunk, opossum, porcupine, and red fox.
