Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

Ah well, here I am! I'm not interested in another lion, giraffe or tiger but I am interested in another flamingo :D. Mostly because of how I would use them. I basically always build on continents. So either an all asian animals zoo, all african zoo etc. or a mixed zoo with sections of the different continents. Another giraffe for example, wouldn't be interesting for me because they are all from Africa, they kinda look the same and live around the same biomes.

However with the flamingo I feel like they do look different enough and are from another continent (well the most wanted anyways which is the american flamingo). So I would actually use it differently from the flamingo in game we already have. Of course this is highly personal and we all build ours zoo's differently. But that's my reasoning for wanting another flamingo but not wanting another lion, tiger, giraffe etc.

If we get the EBB or Asian black bear before either American Black Bear or more importantly Spectacled bear, I’m gonna lose it
I didn’t even realize there was any kind of backing for another Asian Black Bear.

Y’all, 6 of our 7 bears have distribution in Asia, either in part or in full. Can we just let another continent have a turn with this?

Realizing of course the only choices are the Spectacled or American Black Bear

Getting an American flamingo is our only chance at filling gardens with these much needed scenery pieces

I don’t hate the sloth bear itself I just don’t think it fits with the Eurasia pack, compared to something like the Pallas cat which fits a lot better imo. I also just wanted a different bear but I understand that part cause the other bears didn’t fit with the pack theme.
But the theme is eurasia...
The "warm climate vs. cold climate" thing is just a layer based on perception. I get some people, including you, would've prefered another animal. I've been there and in my book we could just scrap the antilope instead, but that's personal preference, not falling out of the theme. Eurasia does have different climates. So we rather could argue that too little warmer climate animals are in the pack to represent eurasia.

Maybe it was a test to see if we want more bears…
They know we want more bears. I still think they plan on giving us both the spectacled bear and the ABB so they have us the last true species of bear that was missing apart from those two to get it out of the way first. If they are planning on releasing the other two, then why not just go ahead and include the remaining bears that was left.
There wasn't a big demand for the sloth bear other than myself i think 🤣 it was my most wanted bear.

There was a demand for more India animals though. Maybe they thought they'd combine that with the bear love instead of going for the blackbuck after some people thinking that Arid was too ungulate heavy.

But it’s a winter pack, and they were clearly trying to imitate cold weather and snowy vibes. We see every animal from the pack in a colder environment except the sloth bear that is in a more rainforest environment.
It's a winter pack in the perception of the northern hemisphere. The southern hemisphere has summer currently. That is as true as our winter.
I don't see why we should miss out on other climate animals, just because of the way the DLC is timed.
Some of us will play this game for years. I don't want to miss out on any animal, just because it didn't fit into It's release time frame.

Same, but now I miss the European Brown Bear, it must be said. Still would have always taken the sloth bear. More unique and European brown bear can be given in the hand of modders.

Ok other than central américa / LAM pack what DLC concept that we have discussed lately are you most excited about?

I personally would like coastal, boreal and arboreal.

I'd be fine with coastal and boreal being NA Focus if we get musk ox, sea otter, pelican, hare, duck, etc.
honestly non of the constantly brought up themes are on my list of most wanted themes except tundra and central america. I am warming up to the idea of a costal pack though
I think it will happen. They chose the hardest to place first. After all the sloth bear it does feel a bit out of place in the Eurasian DLC, being the only tropical/warm westher species there so it's inclusion (even if i love it) feels a bit forced. Why not the Palla's cat or the markhor instead? Those whould've fit perfectly with the overall theme and feels of the DLC. Yet the chose the sloth bear.

To.me that means that the next two packs will give us the spectacled bear (Mountains, LAM, Arboreal) and the ABB (Boreal, Arboreal, Woodlands/Forests).

That's my small personal theory based on nothing 🤣
The sloth bear was definitely the hardest to place a third black bear from asia that never had as strong of a backing as the american black bear or the spectacled. I was convinced prior to eurasia that the sloth bear was the least likely species to be added so now im convinced the other 2 are coming.

What made eurasia feel off for me was I was fully expecting an asia pack and still want one so seeing that only 2 of the animals were europe exclusive so it could of very easily been an asia pack made the whole pack feel off.
The sloth bear in particular feels off because it is so far from the continents joining point when people say euraisa they immediately think off where the continents meet because while yes south and south east asia are technically part of the eurasian land mass if someone calls a Japanese macaque or binturong a eurasian animal it will feel weird. They should of stuck with animals that cross the continental boundary or animals like the takin and wisent which live close to the border

Also to add to the formosan vs general asian black bear discussion im part of the group of people that just cannot us substitutions it just breaks immersion too much for me to pretend one animal is another so I can fully understand that some people who want to build for mainland asian black blear just cant use the formosan as a substitute. This is why in general im a fan of species level additions since they can apply to the broadest amount of players there are only a handful of species ingame that I think were made better because they were a subspecies.

Is there really that much a difference? Comparing pictures just shows a varying level of fur thickness depending how cold the subspecies is located. It's kind of like the brown bear issue.
it is exactly like the brown bear issue

Also there doesnt need to be a difference if it has the wrong name thats enough for some people including me. I particularly dont care about the formosan bear i just care about this issue in general
