Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

I do not know. A coastal Pack would be nothing I am hyper excited for at the moment. But the reason perhaps is that I prefer animals from other areas. But it would be okay. I take what we get and a Pelican, a Walrus, or whatever else would surely not be that bad for the game

The rosters arent random but me trying to make patterns out of nothing these are all the remaining animal tags that dont have dedicated packs.
I like these rosters and animal choices all except the Chinese salamander I will die on the hill that it should be a habitat animal as its is one of the only amphibians big enough to actually work as one.

I'm honestly kind of worried that Frontier will do a Latin or Central America Pack for the spring. It would kind of be the whole "Tropical Pack should have been an animal pack thing again" but possibly worse. Like I'll definitely take whatever Frontier releases and I'm sure they would do a wonderful job with Latin America scenery pieces. But I think we can all agree that the animals from Latin America are more important that a second set.

I honestly wouldn't complain of we got a Central America Pack in the spring and a Latin America Animal Pack in June, but that's definitely not some Frontier would do.

But anyway, I'm going to campaign so bard after we get a more South American animals for Madagascar and a tree kangaroo. This three lemur and fossa thing isn't working for me. I need the radiated tortoise, Coquerel's sifaka/aye aye, and the nile crocodile (I can be flexible on this one 😉). And tree kangaroo is tree kangaroo soooo

I don't think it really matters about the tags. We got Eurasia. It could have very easily been just 'Asia' if they'd switched a single species (the wisent).
for some reason in my feeble little mind the pack name means way more to me then the actual animal roster no idea why. At some point around grasslands and tropical it did seem likely that they were going through the tags then arid came which confused me becasue it should of been desert. Then oceania reaffirmed my theory especially since i thought there was no chance at another oceania dedicated pack. Then eurasia confused it again because it should of been asia or even temperate. In total about half the packs follow the trend half dont but I still want to see them all especially since the tags are my favourite way to build zoos.

Throughout all spring DLC is characterized by a tropical rainforest climate or is associated with water
I still think a climbing pack or arboreal pack is definitely the best choice, because Central or South America is more suitable for animal pack. My final list has also changed

The giant red and white flying squirrel (the largest gliding animal, important representative of Asia, unique gliding mechanism)
Spider Monkey (the most eye-catching star in South America, with a unique climbing mechanism (5th hand)
Tree Kangaroo (undoubtedly an Australian celebrity with high approval ratings)
Tree pangolin (animation of eating upside down, can wrap its tail around branches, second pangolin. African representative)
Exhibition box animals: Forest Dormouse (a supplement to mammalian exhibition box species and mouse species, and mostly sleeps in tree holes, suitable for a motionless state in exhibition boxes, and also a major representative of Europe)

Building materials: a large number of arboreal buildings and climbing facilities

enrichment: A feeding device hung on a tree and climbing rack that allows Red and White Giant to showcase gliding branches.

It includes animals from five continents and refers to the final list obtained from community rankings (other animals such as howler monkeys, small anteaters, and COATI are more suitable for South America 2)

I hope Frontier can see it, because I personally feel that this package not only supplements species, but also adds many new game mechanisms, which is also a good opportunity to attract new players.

Honest question to those who didn't want a domestic pack:

Many of y'all mentioned that y'all didn't want this kinda pack if PlanZo ended support in winter 2023, but if we were to get some DLC in 2024, then it'd be ok.

So, how would y'all feel if spring 2024 was to be a scenery domestic animal DLC?
I'll accept a Domestic Animal DLC only of they do more than 2 packs in 2024 and that 2 of the others are SA and Tundra. Farm animals really isn't a priority for me (plus there are really good mods of donkeys, chickens, sheeps, rabbits, pigs and cows on Nexus). Also, we still need native America scenery pack. So at this point, as I already said, I just need anotherbfull year of support.

I think when speculating the next potential DLC it would be worth looking at both the meta-wishlist and animals that have been talked about a lot without really being high on or at all on the wishlist and trying to put them together. Like the Eurasia Pack didn't cover a whole lot of the meta-wishlist's top animals, but many of them were talked about a lot. Wisent, mute swan, sloth bear as examples. Saiga was never very high on the list but had a lot of traction as a talking point.

Yeah people brought up the wisent alot same with takin so even though they werent high up the wishlist people clearly still wanted them just not enough for them to make the top 25.
The saiga is what ill call the controversial oddball where its rarity in captivity an unique features make it incredibly iconic and controversial within the community. This is why it made it in its a weird an wacky animal people haven't seen before gets people curious and makes the pack stand out it also has the added bonus of making all the realisim players lose it creating a ton of discussion and intrigue. I personally think every good pack needs an oddball to remind us that this is game and to provide and interesting experience with it. This is also why I am also 100% convinced if they do another pack that fits cold climate asia we will get everyones favourite golden monkey becuase its a fun choice.

Saiga is place 17 of the Meta Wishlist. It is really Not that Low. And in case of antelopes it is was the highest placed one. And antelopes have it Always a Bit more difficult than other species because of its variety and people tend to Vote Not for all of them (Same goes for Monkeys by the way). We got 2 animals Out of the Top 10, another one from the Top 20 and a fourth one which was very Close to the Top 20. It was Just a normal Pack as we Always got with the distribution of wanted animals (perhaps the Grasslands Pack was an exception but even within that Pack you Had the so called oddball species).

TBH at this point I can see a bird themed pack coming. It may not have any flying birds (hey fine at this point), but at this point there are a number of high ranking birds. I mean here can be a pack based on current meta wishlist rankings

(removing the Wolverine from #2)

#1. Secretary bird
#11. Shoebill stork (can be #10 if we consider how likely it is we get the manatee)
#12. Grey crowned crane
#22. Great white Pelican (from this point forward I removed Siaga and boar)
#28. Greater Rhea
#47. Marabou stork (also removed mute swan)
#49. Rock hopper penguin
#54: Guinea fowl
#56: Southern ground hornbill
#67: Golden pheasant
#72: Roseatte spoonbill (Wisent is removed from here)
#77: Atlantic Puffin
#86: Kakapo (ok this one I’m not sure why it is on the list, but it sure is cute!)
#87: Mandarin Duck (I’ll get into this one)
#89: Wild Turkey

TBH you could almost call this the African birds pack.
So these are all birds that break top 100, but let’s not also forget that the meta wishlist was made awhile ago when we really need more mammals. I know opinions have changed, talking about birds is an annoying ritual at this point. Moving onto certain birds I think the issue comes down to someone may want a certain group in the game but may not care about the species. Mandarin Duck is a good example of this, people have really wanted waterfowl and ducks but may have not had a single species they wanted over others. So votes will get broken up and divided. Still if we are going over what has been discussed lately, here are a number of birds I have seen be mentioned:
  1. Pelican
  2. Waterfowl, especially after a certain very exciting announcement.
  3. Rhea
  4. American flamingo. This one has been in discussion as more as a free update animal, but tbh I’m ok with this being a low effort clone in a pack with bangers.
  5. I’ve seen the western capercaillie be brought up as a European animal. Partially due to me though lol. The Atlantic puffin falls into this list
  6. Once again I’m partially to blame for this, but discussions around NA and SA getting a bird. Scarlet ibis is brought up here a lot too, as well as the Turkey, burrowing owl (this one is also me), and roseate spoonbill.
  7. With the mountain discussions came a lot of pheasants, like the golden pheasant or Himalayan monal.
So at this point I think it’s gonna be hard to avoid, even if we don’t get a bird pack I can imagine if packs have more birds going forward. Especially as Frontier exhausts more and more of the charismatic non-monkey mammal species.

I'll throw out an idea. I like the idea of a Shrublands pack. We'll get a lot of new shrubs, dry grasses, cactuses, etc. As for animals, my choices would be:
Secretary Bird
Long Nosed Bandicoot
Greater Roadrunner
Patagonian Mara
Texas Horned Lizard

A nice mix of Africa, Australia, and North/South America
Bat-eared Fox >> Bandicoot
OR Serval which would be well received by the community, Honey badger, quoll there are so many...
I like your other choices though! UNLESS you want the bandicoot as one of your top wishlist animals? Then, yes, its a perfect roster.
I just think bandicoot's kind of random... That's all.

Saiga is place 17 of the Meta Wishlist. It is really Not that Low.
I didn't say "low". I said "not super high". 17 isn't the top ten. the muskox and the markhor were higher and would have fit into "Eurasia" just as easily, is my point. The saiga had traction as a general talking point for a long time, despite being less popular.

I agree. It is a trend that i've been noticing with the packs lately. The so called "oddball" inclusions are not that out of the blue. Even if not in the top 20 of the metawishlist a lot of them have been talked about a lot. Like you said happened with the swan, wild boar, wisent, sloth bear and takin (although i do think the last one was in the top 20). A similar case with the little blue penguin, somalí wild ass, addax and black rhino. Not sure about the fossa, i believe it was high in the metawishlist at the time.

This make me both hopeful and fearful lol

Hopeful for my mara and rhea, fearful for a full on domestics pack (but like i said i some other thread if it has a rabbit and a duck i'm sold).
