Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

Putting aside everyone’s wants and what needs to be added to what continent, what animal out of the current wanted (doesn’t need to be at the top), would truly add the most to the games roster?

Species variety, continental representation, uniqueness, consider absolutely everything.
Manatee, by necessity.

Of the species that I think have a nonzero chance of actually being added, though (and assuming we haven’t already reached the end of support), I think the rock hyrax is the ultimate underdog here. Taxonomically distinct, and we have nothing that comes close to living in the environment or sort of habitats they’re typically kept in, or even that really locomotes like them. They’re practically pocket-sized mountain caprines, found in warm regions.

I would honestly choose a primate. Either a baboon or a spider monkey. Both very unique to the current primate roster and one can finish Africa, the other can fill SA to a degree. Both are pretty unique for how you build for them, more so the baboon because we don’t have a primate where you can build cliffy rock enclosures.

Other than these because we don’t know if frontier would do it.
Yeah I know its hard to know if frontier would make any animal aquatic due to the new mechanics needed. Thinking though, very few animals in all these wishlists actually hold weight on their own but rather just fill a hole of representation. South american monkey, a baboon, asia deer, african crocodile, north american ground bird? None of these will truly add something special to the game roster when we get past that stubborn wall of needs and wants. This is why I'm thinking on the level of something different, something only a totally different bird that adds a new habitat build design to what we have or going all out on the manatee/cetacean suggestion train.

Honestly I was thinking of how “flying birds” could be added, and with @CharlieXGaming mentioned on what is needed to add some more flair than say another deer (I want another deer though). So I think the animal should be the scarlet ibis.

I mean it can not only be another bird, but also South American representation. But here is what I think the gameplay feature could be: it can “use” the climbing pieces, and maybe even “fly” up to them. It wouldn’t be true free flying, but essentially a long jump up to one of the climbing pieces. Maybe on a climbing piece like a rope it can slide left or right, but it can’t “climb up” like a monkey or lemur can. So if you have a large habitat and set up some ropes, the scarlet ibis flock can “fly” up to it. So you could make a pretty convincing aviary!

It would look something like this:

I made this in 3 seconds on Procreate but this is what I was thinking. I can imagine a number of birds could be added with the “jump” mechanic being paired with claimable objects. It will allow people to build birds into habitats with verticality. It wouldn’t be as glitchy as regular climbing either as the birds would only “fly” (jump) to where they need to go.

Please, no more cats, no more canines, no more bears.
Although I'm not a big fan of birds and monkeys, they bring a lot of new things to the game.
But how many bears can you produce?!
It’s enough that we constantly have clones of ungulates.
We also have a huge pile of animals that are truly unique. The first thing that came to mind:
■Coati
■Tree kangaroo
■Echidna
■Lori
■Tamandua
■Brazilian porcupine
■Honey Badger
■Mara
■Marmota
■Walrus
Well, really, how many of them can you add to sets. People need to be surprised with something new so that they continue to buy DLC. And if in 2023 the developers greatly improved the graphics, then in 2024 it is worth starting to make a variety of animals that have not yet existed, and not just beautiful clones. Sorry, it's boiling.
The thing is, to get those super unique animals there has to be some easier to do animals to balance it out somewhat. I realize that bears, cats and dogs are all groups that have a lot of representation in the game, but, assuming we get more packs, they will continue to show up.

One thing that could be done is limit them though is to give us species that aren't represented by another of the group in terms of biomes or locations. Spectacled Bear (yes I'm biased really wanting them in, I fully admit) would give us the only South American bear. Canadian Lynx (not a fan but holding to my example), a feline in the upper North American Tundra territory. Racoon Dog for Japan which doesn't have much representation as it is right now.

A walrus being classed as “unique” compared to a seal is just as unique as saying the spectacled bear is unique compared to the rest of the bears. All it has is that separates it from the rest of the seals is tusks.

I genuinely still don’t get why it’s so high up. I get that people like building for semi aquatics but if we are gonna get more of those I would prefer more reptiles and maybe the sea otter, I don’t think another pinniped is needed.
I’m sorry, but you want clone lynxes over the walrus? Why? You dislike shoebill but love herrons? Lol

I guess you like wild parks with european animals soooo much, you dislike the real wild animals that matter in pz

In all honesty, I would rather have a heron than the shoebill. There are many storks I would have over the shoebill (marabou, jabiru) ; the shoebill is not only very rare in captivity, it's just not that interesting to me. I don't see myself using it. On the other hand, I think a heron would be nice to have just a representant of the whole family.

Also, european animals are wild animals and they do matter. You're being so aggressive for no reason here.

Yes same here. Marabou stork, Jabiru, Painted stork and Saddle billed stork are all much more important and interesting to me than the shoebill.

And i would love a heron! Is not only more useful than the shoebill not only ingame but also because of the rig. And is an new unique group of birds we don't have.

That said the white stork is very uninteresting to me and honestly we just got a bunch of European animals i really don't care about haha i rather get other birds.

In general I'd like to have at least a stork from the Ciconia family, as it's a group of storks that looks visually distinct from other storks. If not the white stork, maybe the maguari stork or the oriental stork could fill that niche with representation from South America/Eastern Asia respectively.

Either the Gelada or a Scarlet Ibis. For all the reasons mentioned before me😂

Wow, it's almost like other people can have different tastes in animals. I for one would love both a heron and the shoebill. Getting either would be fantastic to me.

I said I wanted a Lynx over a bobcat, I didn’t say I wanted it in general 🤦‍♂️ I don’t want either a walrus or another Lynx. And no I don’t dislike the shoebill I think it’s a cool creature but I would prefer a Herron because it would add more variety to ponds and stuff cause if we can’t have ducks I would love to have swans and herons in the same pond.

Not really sure what to make of this lol. I said I wanted one animal that is in lakes and it ponds, like what 😭. Of course I like the real wild animals and you would know that by now if you paid attention and knew how much I have been screaming on these forums for gelada, Pallas cat, serval, Andean bear, and many more.
