Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

It blows my mind much more that people bother wasting time on trying to convince each other that their wants are more "objectively needed".

There's no such thing as what's objectively needed for this game. Everyone has other priorities. Some people want unique animals even regardless of their status in captivity, some people want specific species to build zoos in specific areas, some people want to prioritize animals that are the most common in captivity, some people want animals with mechanics that aren't in the game yet and so on and on. There's no objective criteria without your subjective start point.

Purely based on my own criteria for instance, an Asiatic Lion is much more needed than a Walrus, as the first are more common in captivity than the other (especially in Europe). But I'm not going to go around telling people who want a walrus they're "wrong" for wanting one. 🤷‍♂️

I really don't understand what's so hard about letting people voice what they would like to see in the game without going into endless discussions where each side wants to show how superior their wants are compared to the others.
This is a great post, and sadly, so much needed. Thank you for voicing it so well.

I just wish they never went down the route of F1 manager and warhammer games. They are so good at making Planet Games and we could have had a few more by now, and more unique species for zoo
Signing deals with franchises like these are a problem. Specially annual games like F1. I dont know how many years they signed for F1 and warhammer but I hope they can exit that and return to their games.

We currently only have one kangaroo, which lives in desert areas. An eastern grey (for example) would be both visually and climatically distinct - more so than another giraffe or zebra would certainly. This is even more the case for smaller macropods.
I get your point but based on the way the game does regions and biome the kangaroos would be very similar and while I an immediately tell you which one is a red kangaroo and which one is a grey and can easily tell the grey kanagroos apart they are not that unique from each other. Dont get me wrong I would love another kangaroo in the game since australia zoos often have more than one and you see the grey kangaroo as often as the red but they definitely fall into the category of clone animal something very similar visually and geographically to another animal.

Also I think you may have missed the point where I was arguing for the kangaroo the person I was originally quoting said that another kangaroo would add nothing to the game compared to another zebra or giraffe.

The quote in question
Giraffe, lion, zebra agree. Massai, Asiatic and Grevy's are different enough that would be useful. And a new lion (or new tiger) would give us versions with updated models so i'm for it.

On the other hand gorilla, peafowl, flamingo, kangaroo are all straight up clones with slight recolors or name changes and they are a complete waste of a precios slot in what are very possibly the last couple of DLCs.

And i specially don't want another ostrich when we don't even have a rhea still.

@Fossa the laughing emoji’s to Iben was pretty disrespectful. I admit a walrus is higher on my list then the asiatic lion for my own personal reasons but I’d still gladly take a asiatic lion. It’s by no means a bad choice. Clones as their so commonly called are wanted by many people for many different reasons. I’d love a Sumatran tiger along with many others it’s not going to persuade me any differently if some feel different. Truth at this point in the games life any animals we receive are a gift as the games gone much longer then most of us expected.

I was wrong about this last year but my wildcard prediction for Spring 2024 is still a domestics pack coinciding with Easter and including a mix of festive and barnyard scenery. Rabbit as headliner/new rig, something like Nigerian dwarf/African pygmy goat, domestic chicken/domestic duck, and highland cow. Maybe honeybees as a unique exhibit format, but if Frontier doesn't want to do eusocial animals (since a single bee colony would be tens of thousands of individual animals and would therefore have to be handled differently); if not, maybe just a fifth habitat animal (donkey? sheep? pig?) .

Quoting this to make it come true✨✨✨✨

that could be a good pack, but I'll also say that i feel like this type of pack would be equally at home for a Fall release as a Spring release. Domestics - farms - planting season/harvesting season. Either way works, it would certainly bring something found in many zoos.

Personally i think bees would be a better fit for a scenery item with particle effects added.
But yeah the petting zoo theme kinda suffers from not really having a suitable exhibit animal, the hermans tortoise would have been one of the best option imo.
My local zoo has 2 displays for mice and rats which are both not to far of from the 4x4 exhibits size. They are essential two rooms with rustic old interior, baskets, pots and so on which you can look in through windows. Giving the impression of peeking into a old farm house kitchen in 1900.
Imo something like this would be pretty cool and would fit into the domestic theme perfectly. Although animating a bunch of energetic and lively rodents in the exhibit would be alot of work i guess

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of an arboreal pack, which could fit well the Spring season and the standard format. For building pieces, I can see a tree-house wooden set and a lot of new foliage. They could also bring the ziplines from Jurassic World Evolution for the update.

An alternative for the tamandua could be the American Black Bear or the Spectacled Bear since they are arboreal too.
Perfect pack, however I don't see what scenery could be added here, so I would personally go for an animal pack and add some of the following:
-Golden Snub Nose Monkey (very unique colourful monkey)
-Spider monkey (popular in zoos)
-Spotted Cuscus (not very common, but beautiful imo)
-Sifaka
-Aye Aye
-Kinkajou
-Squirrels (maybe controversial, but I would enjoy the ambience they could give in a WTE)

The chameleon is great and my only exhibit wish, besides a two toes sloth, which could also work here as a quick copy animal.

Many of us have been waiting for a horizontal wood set for ages.
