Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

After getting 3 pigs last year (“last year” that feels weird to say, where did 2023 go) I believe that frontier isn’t afraid to give us multiple animals of the same type as long as they fit within their chosen pack topics and already have the rig. After all the pigs last year were chosen because:
  • RRH - High on Meta Wishlist and rig there
  • Peccary - Quick animal to make and rig already there
  • Boar - rig there and it’s kinda hard to make a Europe pack without the boar regardless of whoever doesn’t like it’s addition, the pack definitely wouldn’t feel the same without it.
Therefore, we already have the bear rig, if they choose to do another NA pack that actually gives us NA scenery which is deserved, the ABB is the representative of NA so it can definitely be included. As for the Spec. Bear it’s pretty high on the meta wishlist (top 10 I believe) and I think everyone’s on the same page of wanting some sort of SA themed pack so there the Spec. Bear can be an easy rig and popular choice.
That's some good points. Like with the Pig/Pig-type animals, we got 3 within 9 months. Imagine if the same happened for the bears as well.

I don’t have to imagine it, it will happen.

One of the creators was bitten by an EBB, then scratched by an Asiatic Lion, then double kicked by Masia Giraffe and Grevy Zebra, and then chased by all copy-paste clone wolves realistic zoo lovers crave for.

The African Leopard was watching and did nothing to stop it, so it is also guilty and on the never-in-planetzoo-list

Like that guy who claimed frontier showed off habitat snakes and flying birds and stuff in an alleged games spot
I remember that since I was the one who spent 1 hour watching every video possible around the gamescom reveal to see literally anything pointing towards those hints that frontier totally made more detailed animals than the basegame before the game even released. I honestly don't know why I even bothered.

I think it will happen. They chose the hardest to place first. After all the sloth bear it does feel a bit out of place in the Eurasian DLC, being the only tropical/warm westher species there so it's inclusion (even if i love it) feels a bit forced. Why not the Palla's cat or the markhor instead? Those whould've fit perfectly with the overall theme and feels of the DLC. Yet the chose the sloth bear.

To.me that means that the next two packs will give us the spectacled bear (Mountains, LAM, Arboreal) and the ABB (Boreal, Arboreal, Woodlands/Forests).

That's my small personal theory based on nothing 🤣

Hoping this will be true!

I still don’t get why they didn’t choose the cat. Markhor I can kinda understand cause that’s a lot of ungulates but the cat, why? Rig was there, it would fit with the pack theme, and it’s a popular animal.

Saving it for Mountains pack next winter or because of the bear theory.

Although i also think we'll see at least two cats this years: Pallas and Ocelot. Serval i'm on the fence about. I don't think they will revisit Africa soon. Maybe as anniversary gift. But those are the three big ones missing from the small cat roster: snow cat, jungle cat, grasslands cat. I would also like a fishing cat with a little pool enrichment but i don't see that likely to happen lol

I hope they keep it at maybe 1 cat and give some other groups a chance to shine

For basicly ever theme there is an alternative pick for the small-medium predator niche that would bring more to the game than another cat in my eyes.
Yeah I agree there are a lot of cats from previous packs that I would prefer something else that can add more, but we know frontier loves cats and if they continue this trend I like to take advantage of it and ask for more cause why not, especially when one remaining is one that is really special to me personally.
