The three staples of Europe are the Brown Bear, Wisent and Grey Wolf. Followed closely by the Lynx. The European Brown Bear is quite literally an icon of the continent, being so widespread and the largest land carnivore. To say the boar and badger even compare to it as an ‘iconic species’ is wild😂

The bear is to Europe what the lion is to Africa; a staple. It is absolutely necessary to Europe’s representation. And I’m gutted that it was missed out on multiple occasions.

But the duck isn't a common zoo animal, its a common wild animal in zoos that are found in ponds and streams in the zoo, whereas the pelican is an actual habitat animal. The duck has the variety (although its likely we will only get 1 species which is why I dont prefer it mostly) but the pelican would be more enjoyable to build for.

Ducks are ubiquitous zoo animals, there are like 5 species of duck in the top 50 most common zoo animals alone on zootierliste.
I mean sure mallards will often chill out at zoos, but there are PLENTY of species intentionally kept there aswell

Idk what zoos your going to, but allmost every zoo ive been to had some wild ducks yes, but also atleast 3 exotic ones and also the "wild" ones signed out.

They are also allways allways allways present in the habitats for pelikans and flamingos, often in larger numbers then them.

Whistling ducks are a pretty common zoo duck found in covered aviaries. There's more ducks than just Mallards


I still want Mallard ducks though, my ponds shall drown out the gibbon noises with their endless quacks

To clarify, I meant more general ducks like the mallard would be less exciting to build for than pelicans because pelicans are larger and more commonly have enclosures. If they do go the route of a more exotic duck, fine I'd appreciate it, but I still think that the pelican is the better choice. They just have more unique behavior and would add more to the zoo animal roster imo.

Well obviously opinions differ but in my eyes there isnt anything that would add more to the current roster of planet zoo than a duck. The muscovy duck especially has so many things going for it and would improve so many aspects of the game at the same time that every single other animal is just left behind laying in the dust.
