Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

How about another way to approach this? If the console edition was to get an exclusive animal, which animal would everyone be happy to lose?
Honestly a subspecies or closely related species from the same part of the world:
  1. Masai giraffe
  2. Mountain Zebra
I get why the American flamingo would be up there, but for me that would be a serious loss. Its coloration is very different, and represents a group of flamingos from a different part of the world.

Also even if it’s a clone, I would actually be kind of mad if the console version got an exclusive bird. We are so close to the end any bird is a loss.

I’ve never felt so out of the loop before! The American flamingo is one of my favorite bird species, I’m surprised people are saying that over a “clone” of the hoofstock animals. I’ve been hoping to get another flamingo for years, if we got multiple antelope and pigs in one year I would be miffed if the flamingo went to console only. That’s just me though, everyone is allowed to have their own opinions.

Me watching everyone say American flamingo

Just feeling out the room, does ANYONE think DLCs will continue to be released after the Spring? Or is it essentially a guarantee the spring will be the last?
I don't think that anybody thinks it's an impossibility that they don't release DLC after the Spring. It just makes it significantly less likely. I do think there's a possibility that we see a final animal pack get released in early June that is released for both console and PC at the same time (otherwise I can see that getting to be a bit confusing; "sorry new players you have to wait for all these animals"). But I don't really see anything beyond that. If, for no other reason, than how confusing it could get from a marketing perspective.

With PlanCo, they slow-dripped the DLC packs every couple months and I suspect they would do the same for Planet Zoo. But I could see them releasing console along with Arctic and South America in early May with the 'final' animal pack in June (one month or so after console release). With the next two DLC for console coming later in the summer. And so on and so on.

Part of me almost wants to think a final pack might come a bit earlier than usual (e.g., late May) to be released alongside console and to get a final FY24 bump from Planet Zoo DLC for PC at the same time but... That feels super ambitious and I'd imagine could be overwhelming for new players: "Pay $45 for this game and also? Here's $30 worth of DLC you can buy at the same time!"

I think they’ve planned to make extra money on new DLC’s from console customers too. At least one year of DLC’s more.
