I've barely been paying attention to this "exclusive content" conversation, I just saw a chance to roast the GSNM and left 
I think it has a decent chance of happening the exclusive animal, but theres alse a good chance it won't happen.

As long as an exclusive animal isn't a bird, monkey, ungulate, rodent, or bear then I couldn't care less 
I honestly feel the console edition could come out before the next DLC and that will be better for the game.
If they announce console next week for a May release it will be extremely confusing marketing like:
'Hey guys we have console edition coming out in May'
'BTW we have a new DLC coming out soon in March/April but thats only for PC users and not our new console users'
'Hey guys the console version is out! But the new DLC that came out last month won't be available for a while for our new console community'
Instead if they release console then the DLC as multiplatform it is enticing for PC and console players and is a solid foundation for more dlc if they wish.

I really like the idear of a celebration animal for the console edition that gets added for free to both versions, and while the american flamingo would be nice, the true best choice would certanly be a south american monkey.
Imo another capuchin or squirrel monkey should be rather easy and charismatic, but if i go full dreamer mode, id love love love the white faced saki.
Its one of the most unique looking monkeys, a nice mid size and super common in zoos, a great choice to flesh out the roster and defenetly one i wouldnt expect in a dlc.

If the model is code is there why not port it into both versions?

I know I get what you were saying about it making sense for both platforms to get it, I was just thinking if they did only give the console players it.
Would even be a great addition to the base game roster. Which has almost no SA habitat animals and no more classical monkey, which is incredibly weird for a zoo game imo
This would make a lot of sense! Especially if it were a larger DLC with animals from all over the world rather than being region- or biome-specific.
Right, adding a whole brand new dlc with more content than a regular pack as the pre-order bonus is a genius idea. (sarcasm)
Pre-order bonuses are usually something not really that relevant, just a little incentive to make the pre-order, for jwe it was literal skins for some vehicles. The deluxe version being the pre-order bonus makes way more sense and even then it feels more generous than any other pre-order bonus I've seen.

Because it's just a Sand Cat but lives in the mountains, is grey & furrier.

It’s weird waking up in the morning and only catching up on 1 page of conversation.
And a tiger is just a stripy lioness so why do we need that? A giraffe is just a spotty okapi. A polar bear is just a white grizzly. A zebra is just a wild ass where the stripes don’t stop.
According to this reasoning we’d never go beyond a base game of only a few animals because everything else is ‘clones’ and all our zoos would be the same, boring lineup.
