Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and wants ofc, but seeing argueably the last bird slot in the games lifetime go to another flamingo would be to me the pinnacle of missed potential and redundeancy. Same but slightly less so situation with the rhea for me
Yeah the rhea is for me what the American flamingo is for others. Same side of the same coin, no one is wrong but someone else might not be as happy as someone else’s choices. I agree though, at this point the bird slots should go to some new stuff. Especially because modders haven’t found a way to add new animal sounds yet. I can’t imagine a duck that can’t quack lmao.

No shade to people expecting the American Flamingo but wouldn't you prefer species with new models instead of species that modders can do (and have already done)? I mean if we're about to have the last DLC I would definitely root for different models than what we already have even though I know it's not going to have much new models.

PS: remember that I like all species. But I would for example prefer the roseate spoonbill than a new flamingo.
Yes, but realistically we are not gonna get only "new models", so if there's a clone in the pack I want it to be the american flamingo.

And I don't really do mods because I don't like to take the risks involved with it, so that's not really an argument for me.

The pinnacle of missed potential and redundancy really resumes well what Planet Zoo has done this last year isn't it.
Unfortunately, yeah. Like I said there was a number of animals I have been excited about this year. Red river hog, Somali Wild ass, kiwi, little blue penguin, and mute swan among them.

You want to know what really got me hyped? Finding out modders made the leafy sea dragon for the exhibit.

This point becomes mute with the final update to the game however because neither the game or the mods change, so pretty much all risk with mods disappears. That is the major shift in a game like this when support ends - modding becomes the heart of the game. So at this point the final DLC should really be of as much use to the modding community as possible. Any groundbreaking rigs like the swan that create the ability to make new swathes of animals via mods change the landscape significantly.

Not really. Don't get me wrong, everyone who wants to use mods go ahead and do that, I support your happiness using them. But personally I don't wanna take any risks breaking the game with no official support or way to fix it. That's also why I said that it's not really an argument for me. You can't decide to mute my personal argument :ROFLMAO:

I might be late to everything, but I am so gutted that CMS have been left. It wouldn't the same without these wonderful CMS and special livestream :(. The new stream is looking good, it looks like PZ is coming to console. I have a mixed feeling about this, I hope that PZ will still have a bright future and carry on its support!

The idea of having condensed streams with the important news is actually quite a good idea and am sure will keep everyone well informed. Just sad it took financial failure and so many layoffs to get to this position.

Of course you do as you want and your point is valid but don't be afraid of mods, they're not going to break your game. I'd say that sticking with known modders, checking that the mods you want are safe to use (virus scan and bugs report), and installing them one by one and going in game each time to see if the game doesn't crash is the way to go. And if the game crashes, uninstall the responsible mod and everything works properly 😉 But I understand your fear. I had myself some trust issues with mods but once I tried them and saw that everything was fine, I understood that a new world was waiting for me 😂
That being said, for the moment I just used a lot of them to see how they look in game but I uninstalled them until I'm 100% sure the support for PZ will end. Until then, I will stick with what Frontier gives us because 1) I support dev amazing work and 2) it's must be very boring to uninstall the mods each time there is a new DLC.

That's kind of where I was a bit ago, like a year or so ago. I downloaded a few to get an idea of how they'd work in game, but removed them all except the Capybara, which I think came with the next DLC anyways. My stance is I'm thankful for the modders and their talent. They're going to give Planet Zoo a lot of life beyond official support. But I'm going to wait until official support ends to use them. I don't trust myself to be careful to remember what to do prior to game updates, etc.

On a different point of discussion, do people actually need the Coati? Like if we get a Finale pack with SA species that aren't the coati, would people not like that or be unbothered because its still more SA animals? Same question for the Secretary bird, if we get another habitat bird from Africa would people really miss the Secretary?

I posted this earlier for a potential finale pack roster, not including both the Secretary and Coati, but it has 4 other SA animals and a different African bird. Would this be ideal?
Untitled design-2.jpg

12 animals, 2 asia, 4 africa, 4 SA, 1 NA/SA, and 1 AU. Has a petting zoo animal, 5 birds, 2 exhibit animals, 2 primates, this seems realistic to me idk. It has 6 clones, an exhibit animal which really dont move, 3 that would be based off other animals with some work, and 2 new rigs (Macaw and Spider Monkey).

Do I need the coati? No, Do I need the secretary bird? Also no. Apart from the odd zoo I build neither are actually that common to see for the average SA/African area. Substitute animals for both would be Howler Monkey (I don't want to see the spider monkey if we can't get realistic brachiation) and grey crowned crane which would see extensive usage in my zoos. Need is a strong word, a word that is most likely the most overused word on here where most people really mean they want the coati/Secretary bird. Neither are essential to have to build an area themed around them, a new world monkey is the last essential animal outside of birds for south America if I have to be critical. It's similar to how a baboon feels like one of the last few worthy african animals to get.
