Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

Sounds relaxing. Or maybe take a trip around the world to celebrate?
Hah! That would definitely work for a global animal roster and would fit alongside some sort of update that allows for more flexible map skirts or something. Only thing is... It usually ties to a scenario rather than pack content. And I'm not sure how they'd do a "worldwide" scenario in that way (though having some sort of map skirt thing could help that along).

I missed the livestream, sounds like I really didn’t miss much though! So we learned nothing new, other than them hinting support isn’t quite done and they want to make us happy. Which is very much marketing/ lawyer/ HR talk. Still, it makes me hopeful my socks will be blown off with the new dlc.

They could base the scenario in the UK for like the third time! 😂 That's honestly a really good point though

So let's recap;
Either a Rainforest/Jungle Pack or a Latin America Pack. Plus they could do a curve ball move by going animal pack rather than the scenery pack via previous pattern.
I'll try put my idea for the latter.

Scenery Pack
Spectacled Bear
Brazilian Tapir
South American Coati
Geoffroy's Spider Monkey
WTE) Hoffman's Two-toed Sloth OR 5 Macaws
+ Spanish Colonial themed set

Animal Pack
Spectacled Bear
Brazilian Tapir
South American Coati
Geoffroy's Spider Monkey
Ocelot OR Bush Dog
Southern Three-banded Armadillo OR Southern Tamandua
Caribbean Flamingo OR Brown Pelican
WTE) Hoffman's Two-toed Sloth OR 5 Macaws

I can see them putting out one final pack to surpass 200 animals, and then repackaging/reselling PZ as a “Complete Edition” later on in the year for new PC players.
Technically the ultimate edition is that with all the dlc bundles in a pricey package, I can't see frontier willingly giving new players the game for less. The dreaded subscription could make its way to planet zoo though like in coaster.

The what? Like could you "rent" the dlcs?

Yeah pretty much, you pay a monthly (I think) fee to get access to all dlcs to get use of out them in a shorter time frame or trial out which ones you want to buy fully. The planet coaster community was really upset frontier turned to that business model especially years after zero updates.

Here's a picture of the steam page :

if it were to be a Latin American dlc I will take
Andean Bear
South American Coati
Spider monkey
Ocelot
Bush dog
Tamandua
Carribean flamingo
Macaws

I personally have no interest in another tapir or sloth

After thinking on it some, if we wind up with a "World Expedition" pack or something along those lines, here's what my ideal scenario would be... Stretching reality a bit in terms of species counts (and balancing meta requests with my own wants a bit). The scenery content is primarily just to "fill gaps" in scenery more than anything. Some of this is pure pipe dream. But the general idea/theme feels reasonable (i.e., 1-3 animals from ~5 continents + scenery) if not oversized.

But if this were how things ended? I'd feel pretty content with the end of things... In fact, if we got roughly 75% of this I'd have no real complaints, all things considered.
  • 10 habitat species:
    • South America: Black Howler Monkey, Coati, Ocelot
    • North America: Black Bear, Black-footed Ferret
    • Oceania: Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo
    • Africa: Secretary Bird, Hamadryas Baboon
    • Asia: Mandarin Duck, Reeve's Muntjac
  • 3 walk-through exhibit species:
    • South America: Macaws + Toucans
    • Oceania: Budgies
  • Scenery items:
    • Clapboard wall set (~25)
    • North America scenery/theming pieces (~25)
    • Latin America scenery/theming pieces (~25)
    • Aviary building pieces (~25)
    • Foliage (~15)
    • Signs (~20; 1 for each species with several getting 2-3)
Update would include:
  • Lion remaster
  • Flexicolor for all wall sets
  • Elevators (functions like restaurants)
    • Small handful of props to go along with it: Elevator doors, up/down arrows, button pad, and flexicolor carpet floor/wall set
  • Several more billboard sizes
  • Individual versions of most exhibit and facility components

I'm really losing patience with the limitations of the original engine.
Not sure how ending support fixes that problem, a sequel could never happen or a long time away in the future similar to how planet coaster 2 is just around the corner. Best way is to work with the games limitations to get around the general frustration of what isn't possible to do in the game.

Honestly if the final pack brings up the roster to 200 species I would be really happy, granted it depends on what is in the pack of course. I just think best case scenario for me is the pack is pretty diverse, with a little more reptiles and birds than normal. If I were to breakdown the animal amount probably something like this:

  1. 10 mammals
  2. 6 birds
  3. 4 reptiles
So 10 mammals and 10 non-mammals. Any combination of animals is fine by me, I just want it to be diverse. Though I don’t know what would be added, any fish or invertebrates would be cool too. The modding revolution for exhibit animals has been really fun to watch!

Because of my bias, I’m gonna balance the list out as 8 birds and 8 mammals, this is just for fun but I’m gonna make my list of the 20 species to finish the roster:

The mammals:
  1. Black Howler monkey
  2. Hamadryas Baboon
  3. Golden Lion tamarin/ squirrel monkey
  4. Walrus
  5. Patagonian mara
  6. White nosed coati
  7. Reeves muntjac
  8. Spectacled bear/ American Black Bear
The birds
  1. Grey crowned crane
  2. Secretary bird
  3. Mandarin duck/ mallard duck
  4. Great White Pelican
  5. Golden pheasant
  6. Scarlet ibis
  7. American flamingo
  8. Greater Rhea, or any Rhea species
The reptiles
  1. Slender shouted/ Nile crocodile
  2. African spurred tortoise/ red footed tortoise/ radiated tortoise
  3. Exhibit: Jackson chameleon
  4. Exhibit: king cobra
