Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

That's pretty strange, because cash as an Easter gift has been a thing in and around the Benelux since I was a kid, that's a whole long while ago, and it's still a very common thing today. People giving their kids video games (or DLCs to a video game) sure isn't uncommon either.

It sure involves the holidays as well, because of course it does, but I wouldn't be surprised that DLCs are just also bought more because it's a time where people give each other gifts.
It possibly is a significant factor, though the worldwide and wider Europe bias seems overwhelmingly towards consumable gifts (it is after weeks of fasting for some, so it does make a lot of sense).

Another question is which age groups are playing the games, if the majority are kids to early teens (a safe bet for the JWEs I think), then that gift would be the most significant aspect, whereas if it's more late Teens to Adults, then it's probably not the main feature. I don't think there's a way to know, but given the hardware investment needed to play the game, I'm thinking maybe older age groups for Planet Zoo, but coming on to consoles, it'll probably skew younger and younger over time.

Africa 2024 pack:
Secretary Bird
Hamadryas Baboon
5 other habitat animals less than 10% of people asked for
Chameleon (exhibit)

We are really really good on our African roster, the two specific species above excepting. Sure there are other species I want and have talked about but I’m honestly okay with none of them.

Unpopular opinion: In the last little while i realize that a SA pack after the classic frontier approach isnt something im actually super keen on.
Almost every single animal i want from SA is on the more work heavy side of things, whereas the vast majority on simple animals, which would make up the bulk of the pack, im really not interessted in
Yeah, that’s the only thing that has me worried. On one hand Frontier said we will be happy will the final pack, and I bet we will be. On the other hand Frontier has shown what kind of animals they usually make, which is usually hoofstock and members of Carnivora (we also do have pinnipeds, marsupials, and other mammal groups I am grateful for though). South America is known for its arboreal mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and invertebrates. It’s an amazing biodiversity hotspot. Unfortunately of those animals listed above 3 of them can only work as exhibit box animals and we usually get only one at a time (assuming we could ever get fish), while for reptiles there aren’t many large species left that can work in a habitat. That just leaves the last two groups, which Frontier doesn’t do as much. Especially monkeys and habitat birds.

I still think a South America focus can work and be worth it. There are a number of species that can work with the games current limitations. If anything I’m really trying to temper my expectations. I don’t want to get all excited over the idea of the final pack being groundbreaking when Planet Zoo has an even smaller team now. But I also don’t want to discredit the hard work either. Though I can’t blame people for recognizing patterns, and not being 100% pleased over it.

Also does anyone know how to quickly locate a message you made? I want to see my post on the meta wishlist by random goat and see how many of my animals got in. But it has 157 pages and that would take too long.

Yeah, i always said that the whole "most biodiverse continent" really doesnt apply to Planet Zoo. While yeah IRL south america is the most biodiverse place, most of that diversity is made up by animals irrelevant aka birds and fish, or of lower relevancy aka "exhibit aimals" , whereas habitat suitable animals arent that abundant.
And to be clear thats not to say that SA doesnt desperatly needs more animals, or that there arent any habitat suitable animals at all or something like that

Central America scenery pack >>>> Lati
Animal pack

Monkey, Bird, Ocelot + an oddball like an agoutie would do much more then the expected clones for an animal pack would, while also offering something SA needs just as desperatly but which is much rarer talked about: Plants.

South Americas plant selection is lacking by quite a bit and tropical plants in general are just super usefull, so those combined with the higher individual complexity expected for the animals in a scenery compared to an animal pack and its pretty obvious to me whats preferable

Easy enough I found my original wishlist and although it has changed nowadays it is still relevant enough for me. Turns out 9 out of 25 have made it to the game.

Well if anyone ever wondered why RightWhale feels the way he do, now you can see it lol. I got 4 to make it in, which is better than nothing I guess. I’ll admit I made the post late, but I never thought the birds I wanted were any more difficult than any of the other animals. I will say some of my animals have shifted around a bit, like a scarlet ibis instead of a Congo peafowl. Otherwise it’s not too dissimilar.
