Oddly enough I can see it work for slow moving fish like a whale shark, arapima, and other very large fish species. But yeah I think a manatee would be a bit too slow and cumbersome.

Sure this works, with one exception. Take out the Manatee and added in the Mara.
Only 4 birds so no lol. Honestly out of this top 20 I would say about 12 are necessary at this point.
Get rid of tree-kangaroo, musk ox, ocelot, markhor, spectacled bear, serval, honey badger, sea otter and gelada (ouch these hurt) and replace them with rhea, scarlet ibis, guineafowl, roadrunner, spider monkey, spoonbill, squirrel monkey, and if we are including manatee screw it include the burrowing owl. And I haven't even included a duck or a pheasant... Yea nevermind this is an impossible task lol.

Let's see where people are right now regarding certain groups. Out of these "core zoo animal" groups which is your most wanted habitat species?
Carnivorans - South American Coati
Ungulates - Reeves' Muntjac (I think this and the blackbuck are the last two that are truly essential)
Primates - Any Callitrichid (Tamarin, Marmoset, etc)
Other Mammals - Rock Hyrax
Birds - Too many, I think right now I would say Pelican, Rhea, Stork, or Guineafowl, all my most wanteds are birds at this point.

I think including 4 new world monkeys is a bit excessive where honestly only the howler and one other of personal choice is needed.
Honestly I think the bare minimum is three:
- One of either spider or howler (I prefer spider but I'll take either).
- Any callitrichid (be that a tamarin, marmoset, or whatever)
- Squirrel monkey
I’d rather any other animal from SA that’s not a monkey instead of the squirrel monkey, just personal preference but I don’t see the want for it, it’s another really small primate like the capuchin and lemurs we already have. I’d choose:
- Spider or Howler
- Golden Lion Tamarin (yes it’s small but it’s in its own category of monkeys)
- White faced Saki

Favorite Zoo Animals: (3)
- Golden Lion Tamarin: my love and an important icon from SA
- American Black Bear: my local love and a bear with lots of color morphs would be my favorite.
- Serval: I've seen them a bunch of times and I just really like them.
- Black Howler Monkey: SA icon
- Geoffroy's Spider Monkey: I can pretend the color morphs are different monkeys
- Hamadryas Baboon: ABC animal and an arid monkey enclosure would be different
- Guereza: Africa needs a small monkey, and they have a cool cape
- Cotton Top Tamarin: I like tamarins and am especially missing them today. I might swap a second tamarin for a Pallas's Cat or Markhor on another day.
- Grey Crowned Crane: Cool African bird. I would accept a Secretary bird as well.
- Roseate Spoonbill: Pink Tropical icon
- Brown Pelican: Adds a Pelican and a nearctic--We're the only realm without any whatsoever--bird. Also could live with both pinnipeds.
- Mandarin Duck: Pretty duck to make a rig for modders
- Rhea: They aren't super exciting to me. Selfishlly I might trade this one for an markhor, but I wouldn't like SA having such a noticable gap.
- South American Coati: Very important and requested animal
- Margay: Ocelot would be fine, but reusing the fossa rig would be fun. It could hunt tamarins.
- Spectacled Bear: It's the last bear and an icon of the Andes.
- Patagonian Mara: They're cute. Apparently they are important for SA. I might consider subbing it for a tamandua to use the pangolin again, but Mara's are also cool.

- Reeves's Muntjac
- Echidna
