Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

This thread will continue to spiral for sure. Even without the console news i already figured it would be the most anxious, stressful, and long wait for DLC yet, what with content most likely wrapping up the first half of this year. Adding the console news in only made that more extreme.

I’ll still be hopeful that we have 2, not 1, more DLC. At least until we get something supersized or a global, wrap up kind of pack

I wonder if, without the special streams, they'll hint at the DLC through the social accounts. I honestly think there's a pretty good chance, that they do a little something. Won't be the same though
I can imagine it could be similar to the jwe2 posts with a hidden animal or update feature. Seeing how the streams are now with discussing details over fun engagement, its hard to imagine the streams showing off any hints.

If we do get an April release (which we will), they will most likely talk about 1.17 in the stream for sure, not sure how they'll do the DLC tho, probably release the trailer the day after the stream or sometime after their Easter break

I'd imagine they may handle it in a similar fashion to the anniversary tease. Not quite as fun as a livestream but... If they do it right and drop a few hints leading up to the reveal? They could definitely get the community talking and I think it could be almost as fun in terms of speculating on the hints they drop. Especially if it were over several days.

Islands is a pretty versatile animal theme, could even include Walrus and Musk-ox if the qualifier is "range includes an island". It also can't include a lot of things people want, even with the broad definition, so I'm not sure on it suiting a "next final" pack if that's the idea (Native island monkeys are pretty rare in the Caribbean, you're apparently limited to Guyanan Howler monkeys [Trinidad], Cottontop Tamarins [Rosario islands*] & Trinidad White-fronted Capuchins. The Shoebill is not a candidate, and the Secretary bird doesn't seem to be).

Exhibit animal seems like it should be a Giant Weta, give New Zealand a second endemic (Bluff Weta first two, Wetapunga third)

I will be the first one to admit that under no circumstances, do I want any more insects or bugs in Planet Zoo, let alone for our potentially last DLC.

I think among the whole community, insects are the least used exhibit animals, due to them not being very interesting.

Rather what we really lack are Chameleons or Cobras in exhibits. In WTE there is an infinite amount of animals we need, so I would rather only go with WTE's instead of any classic exhibits.

TBH after thinking about the Franklin Park Zoo bird houses and other aviaries in other zoos there are a lot of diverse bird groups that could work in the WTE. I was just thinking of some of the open air exhibits I saw, and with WTE you don’t have to let guests walk through them either, you can use them almost like a big habitat-box.

Here are some (besides the obvious lorikeets and budgies):
  1. Gouldian finch
  2. European bee eater
  3. Inca tern
  4. Turacos
  5. Toucans
  6. Pigeons
Do I think it’s gonna happen, no. But if the final dlc finally gives us WTE birds that would be nice.

I think an orchid mantis would be neat!
Also I would like some leaf cutter ants, and maybe some bees while I’m at it.

Granted the Hercules beetle or stag beetle would be cool too. Or maybe a whole bunch of stick bugs!

TBH one of the things I’m absolutely getting into when support ends is all of the exhibit box animals! Some of them like so good you could convince me they are from Frontier. TBH compared to some of the base game exhibit animals sometimes I think the mods are even better!

I think their downfall is more due to their size. The reptiles you can spot very easily, whereas the inverts and most of the amphibians you have to look for to actually see them.
Personally id much prefer classic exhibits over more bats and sloths

Considering the fact we have building pieces to make a giant Cobra, not to mention the fact that the game is run on the Cobra engine (Okay I mentioned it lol), the fact we don't have a cobra is the game yet is absolutely mindboggling. It's like such an obvious pick they didn't pick it.

That and a Chameleon have been at the top of the exhibit want list from the point those lists got started in late 2020. Granted, exhibit animals are much harder to cross off the list since we only get one per pack, and they're not as talked about as habitat animals, but it's really weird. Frontier's done so well at crossing off animals off the habitat list...and yet, it's like they've almost completely ignored the exhibit list.

Actually it really fits. Frontier has a history of rarely picking the obvious exhibit animal.
