Spring dlc Speculation 2023

It's true we get influenced by US English, and I noticed that in English, names tend to diverge a lot from the greek/latin name, even more so in Dutch or German
Seems weird to me most of the times :
In French we tend to keep names closer to latin
Example : Blackbuck is "Antilope cervicapre" in French, nearly the same as the latin taxonomy (Antilope cervicapra)
Red River Pig/Hog (Potamochoerus porcus) is "Potamochère roux" which translates to Red River Pig.
Warthog (Phacochoerus africanus) is "Phacochère" which means "Lentil Pig" due to the protrusions on their face.
Same goes for Tree Kangaroos, we call them "Dendrolague" from the greek name "Dendrolagos" = Tree Hare

Since we already have an African Suidae/Hog aka Warthog, would be weird to get a Red River Hog or Bushpig instead of the Visayan Warty Pig. ;)

This logic works both ways, and I say this as someone who wants the red river hog.
It's true ! Forgot about the good old Warthog !

I mean we also already have a south-east Asian island endemic suid in the form of the babirusa, so this argument goes both ways.

EDIT: Nevermind, didn’t read the quote! The messages are moving too fast lol

Btw, what animals that are from islands can you see at Shepreth Wildlife Park?
Cuz I can only imagine Sumatran Tigers 😅
I used to volunteer at Shepreth ☺️ It's a lovely wildlife park but very small. Started off as a hedgehog / local wildlife hospital and then got in a tiger to attract visitors for money, to finance itself. Their tiger is described as Sumatran but is actually a mixed geneological animal that has no conservation value. They keep it just to bring in visitors and give it a place to live out its life. Its enclosure is far too small. Shepreth does small wildlife best. Their only tropical island species I think are their lemurs and tortoises...sorry if I've forgotten one or two though. I can't remember which species of Giant Tortoise they have.
