My friend recently went to Isreal and was talking about the lack of biodiversity regarding vertebrates. I explained that I believed that there was a lot more, but a lot had sadly been driven out. That's so cool!
Extant large land animals of israel: Wild boar, eurasian otter, caracal, striped hyena, rock hyrax, nubian ibex, sand cat
Reintroduced animals: onager, arabian oryx, kleinmanns tortoise, persian fallow deer, roe deer
Extinct large land animals in Israel: nile crocodile, lion, syrian brown bear, ostrich, cheetah, addax, red deer, hippo, and recently leopards
So yeah we're supposed to have much more, but we have 1uite a few and hopefully in a few years we'll have a few more.
