Spring dlc Speculation 2023

thought of like randomly choosing a name

I agree that an actual wishlist might be a better idea to narrow it down

Anybody checked the flies lately update on the steam lately? Final trunk is updated 😊
I feel we are very close 🤩

Still more than a month away I'd reckon, many of the key files are still to even be updated once. Production final and release branch being updated many times a day is the sign of a close release. Still looking at the first-second week of April giving the hopeful jwe2 announcement in about mid march

Always real interesting trying to narrow down these dlc dates by judging branch updates on the steamdb. Pretty much we have to stick with past release dates and cooperation with jwe2 releases (about 2 weeks after)

Ok y'all, time to begin the votes:

  1. Coastal pack
  2. Domestic pack
  3. Rainforests pack
  4. Islands pack
  5. Something else

The winner gets my cosmic brownies recipe...
The loser gets a video of me EATING & NOT SHARING my cosmic brownies...
I'm voting for Something Else! (I think Zoo Pack/Children's Zoo Pack), I would love to know how you make your cosmic brownies, I'm sure that they are very ✨ Special✨

@DarthQuell you should make the guessing game a seperate thread, where people also guess the roster. The one to come closest with the theme, pack type, and roster would be the winner.
Agreed, it will be easier to sort through the entries that way

Done and done

Not gonna lie, I'm a little skeptical of most of the DLC ideas floating around. Dong get me wrong, all the themes are ones I would be over the moon happy with, but I feel most of the community, myself including, looking at crafting DLCs strictly from a "zoo nerd" perspective. Let me clarify, I'm not policing people on how they speculate, that's ludicrous. But, in my opinion, there are more aspects to animal selection and theme than what animals seem to be highly requested. We know certain animals cost more to make, especially if they are making a new rig (I think, I have no background in game development). Marketability is also something taken into account I'm sure. For example, a red river hog or a peccary would knock the majority of our socks off, while to the general public, it's just a weird pig. It seems now, that most of the player base, or at least the people who ate vocal about the game are zoo/animal nerds, so maybe this is less of a priority now than at launch.

To actually share my opinions, as much as I want a Rainforest Pack or an Islands Pack, they seem like ways to get a ton of ani.als the community really wants. That's kind of it. I still think these are likely since the game is sadly getting closer to loosing support.

Ever since the Europe Pack, it's been really hard to speculate. There's been no leaks, and there is no obvious pattern in the previous themes. I think back in 2021, I heard someone said PZ speculation is dead because of how predictable the packs and rosters were. I would say that is true today with how unpredictable the DLCs are 😅

So, what I think I can say for certain is that we will get at least one animal from the top ten on the meta-wishlist if its a scenery pack, and if it's an animal I wouldn't be surprised if we got at least three.

I think it's less costing more to make and more about the time it takes to make. Like a Barbary macaque would probably take less time for them to make then a hamadryas baboon. Animals will take longer to make depending of if we already have something similar in the game it can be based off of.

Yes! I agree, I'm sure time I'd a HUGE factor, more than cost.

"Clone" animals are inevitably going to be in the next pack. A lot of the time, they are the unexpected picks, so speculating them seems really hard. I honestly don't like the term "clone" because everyone's definition seems to be different.
