So uh, I'm in a player group.
We're kinda old and well established.
Like uh - today is our fourth birthday. Champagne and canapes all round!
Joining a group was the first thing I did back in 3300.
Like about two days after downloading the game.
And to make my decision, I looked around the forums to find a group that seemed to be a bit collegial and a bit together - you know like they've got their own dedicated servers, and they've got populated and busy comms channels (teamspeak back then). You know - when you start a new game - you look for a group that seems like they care about something and have a kind of weight of numbers - not like BIG, but enough to have a likelyhood of longevity and continuity.
And now they've got a squadron in-game.
Anyway so before I go and investigate the inner workings of the 3.3 bindings menu, I thought I'd better lodge a formal application to join.
And it's lucky I know what we are called.
Because the filters are things like PvP, PvE, Explo, Combat, Timezone, etc, and there's plenty ofgroups squadrons out there.
But there's no way to sort by size.
Now - obviously I don't want to be "Sizeist" and to be honest we're not really that big. But even INARA recognises that when you are looking for a group you might want to join - that you probably don't want to join a Party Of One (with apologies to the actual "Party Of One" squadron although I do wonder what he's going to do when he starts to get applications). Like maybe it's sorted by completely random and absolutely everybody has made a party of one, so that's why I'm not seeing uh - anyone I know.
Like as I tweak the filters and muck around - I'm not stumbling across anyone that I would recommend to a noob.
Like - if you ARE looking for something to join - you kinda want to join something established - and maybe later you start your own group. (I'm thinking of breaking away and starting the Alliance Research and Space Exploration group [A.R.S.E.])
There's something I prefer about the way INARA sorts the groups.
I think it's right that you should have to scroll past Canonn, and The Fuel Rats, and Earth Defense Fleet, and Da Vinci Corp, and Lavigny's Legion, and The Alliance Office of Statistics, and Adle's Armada, Black Omega, Sap Core Legion and dozens of other well established groups.
Like maybe on every page there should be one big, and one medium sized group, so you don't have to scroll and scroll to find anything.
My point is, that there should be more visibility for the . . . uh
More visib. . .
hmmmmm.
oh wait - that's what the Leaderboards are for.
Sorry, I didn't think it though. As you were.
see you on about page 2 or 3 of the political leaderboards.
