Squadrons - What's Private and what's Public?

Reading the fine print after joining a squadron, I'm curious - just what is and is not put on Frontier's website? I don't even know where this squadron's website is, or I'd check it myself. I'm under the impression that things like my ship and it's location are made public via this website, which if true, this both concerns and baffles me. Would this not undermine the very purpose of any combat-based or faction-supporting squadrons, or exploration squadrons for that matter?

Related, are shared bookmarks also made public? Again, this would seem to undermine the purpose of squadrons, be it for tactical reasons or "commercial" reasons (exploration, mining, etc).

Any light you can shed would be great. Thank you, and forgive me if this was addressed elsewhere and I missed it.

Um, even a link to this squadrons website would be helpful (and then I can do the research myself). Whether or not I stick with a squadron depends on how much information regarding my CMDR is posted publicly.

Thank you most noble and kind forum members for your assistance [up]

Either:

1) I'm on everyone's ignore list
2) Nobody knows the answer
3) Nobody cares

There’s a website?

Supposedly. You get a "your CMDRs information will be available on Frontier's public website" disclaimer when joining a squadron. I don't remember if they gave specifics (I should have read the fine print), and I definitely don't remember any URL for said website. My concern is having a global nav beacon on that tells anyone and everyone where and what I'm flying. I also don't want my shared bookmarks open to the public. Depending on what this website does share, it could be a griefer's dream site - especially those who like targeting explorers.

No cared because they didn't know it was you. STOP changing your bloody picture!!!

That last picture (the one with the 3D glasses) was just a bit too obnoxious, even for me! I tried to find my original avatar, but I seem to have misplaced it :(

Anyway, I thought people avoided me when they know it's me, LOL.

-- there, fixed it, sorta --

I'd guess nothing that isn't visible in game CMDR name, Rank ? maybe location and squadron ID.

Ship details are probably too changeable to be practical and in game location can be found out (ish) via squadron affiliation anyway so no real point worrying about that.

Theres no chance of anyones personal details being on it.

EDIT : the info you get in browse squadrons in game is wing name, total members, faction ,superpower, power and any game style preferences. Also whatever message people put on it.

The leader boards show the top ten wings at various stuff (and you can see your wings ranking).

The big thing I'm concerned about is current system and ship type. Both these stats are viewable via the Squadron Management panel, which is why I wonder. I'm not worried about RL data, but I don't want a "public wing beacon" that lets anyone and everyone know where I'm at.

You can only see it for members of your squadron in game now. You can't even see who's in other sqaudrons. I expect they'll just export the browse sqaudron info directly to the website so what you see is what you get.

If Frontier is making Squadron information available over it's website, clearly member information should be restricted to name and maybe ranks only.

No way they should give information about ships or locations. I think that should be common sense. I hope Frontier...
