Stalker 2

This wasn't (all) my fault...

...and, to be frank, things have all gone 'a bit Pete Tong'* since...

* Out of date modern Bri'ish slang for 'wrong'.

Does anyone else really hate the little fat trolls in the raincoats who pull the guns from your hand with telekinesis, spin them around in the air and shoot you with them? It's got to the point where I hide all my guns the second I see one and just spam them with grenades...just glad they haven't worked out how to chuck them back

They're doing my nut in :D

Those guys have a telekinetic shield, I see lots of people on Youtube wasting ammo shooting them while the shield is up (blue glow). You need to wait for the glow to go away. Not sure if you knew this already, lots of people don't seem to.

Sussed it out after I had run out of frags to throw at it...I'd have much preferred an emergency baseball bat melee option to be fair... but we can't have everything I suppose :D

What MODS are people using/recommending?

Game is currently sat in my Steam cart and I'm vacillating between hitting buy or remove.

Biggest issue is the 2hr limit I've got on Steam before I have to decide to refund or not (Do wish more games had a decent Demo mode) so it's not a massive amount of time for a game like this.
My current MODS list is as below - all* available from Nexus.

Broadly they cover:
  • the weapons themselves perform/degrade more reasonably
  • the mutants aren't bullet sponges (common in STALKER games)
  • traders buy weapons in any condition (above 0% - common in STALKER games)
  • cheaper repair costs
  • longer days and nights
  • no more aim-bot enemies
  • * enemies now drop armor and their weapons can be in better condition (common in STALKER games is that perfectly functioning guns are ruined when dropped)
  • no shader compilation on startup (I remove this now and again, just in case, and after every patch)
* ringed in the image - this is a mod that I've modded - I'll post an up to date link <here>

That practically mirrors my mod list too. I also have one that stops human NPC's from spamming you with frags....and cuts down the annoying 100% accuracy of the ones they do throw by a variable percentage of your chosing. Nothing more satisfying than seeing them chuck the odd googler that bounces off a wall or gantry and lands back at their feet :D

I'll grab that one too - this is (another) incredibly tiresome aspect.

Cheers. Still procrastinating over it.

It's far from bug free but still pretty decent and the devs seem busy fixing stuff.

If you like Fallout (without the basebuilding) then I'd recommend it. If in doubt then I'd suggest getting STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl (and so support the dev teams) and mod it with Complete (let me know if you can't find it) - the first three or four hours can be hard going and a bit off putting, but if you gel after that then get this game. And if you don't, well...

Alternatively there's STALKER Anomaly - it's free, very good and an equally brutal introduction to the STALKER'verse (although the graphics look dated).

E. If anyone fancies Stalker Anomaly, let me know and I'll post up my mods for it that help similarly to the ones above for STALKER 2

I've had a look and can't spot anything obvious - can you remember which mod achieves this?

I'm now utterly 'spammed-off' (insert profanity of choice) by the ludicrous pin-point grenades falling like rain.

Here's one...although it's not the one I have...

Found it, had to rake around a bit :)

So how's the consensus on performance?

Is UE5 running good enough for low spec hardware or it needs modern specs?

I can't recall what quality settings I'm using, but it's running largely fine with...

i9-9900 3.6Ghz + 32Gb RAM + RTX 2080 super + SSD discs

...dunno what this is considered nowadays - it's a few years old.

A few times performance has tanked (esp at bases), for which closing the game and restarting seems to resolve.

Argh! It clearly conflicts with a pre-existing mod, as the 'blighters' are every bit as pin-point accurate as they were before... 'blast and darn'...

...time for some mod-unpicking...
