There's so much laughable in that, but my favourite part is:

You share your secret spot with a few close friends and instruct them keep it a secret, as eventually the pirates will find you.

I mean, considering the size of SC (even if it ever gets its 110 systems) thinking it will take weeks to find a secret spot is laughable this would actually be

Haha, the comments.

Yikes! Dude doesnt realize that the verse is going to be 9-1 NPCs to Players so PVP will in fact be quite rare.

Truly never been done before! They somehow think because there will be NPCs it will stop people going after other players?

No, they still believe that NPCs will be indistinguishable from players. That really says volumes about the capabilities of the faithful players who believe it, because the only way to achieve that is having players as dumb as NPCs.

One of the comments is funny, noting that anyone who believes NPCs will be indistinguisable is being silly. Players will be the ones running everywhere (hot dog in hand). And not really different from ships. Watch any ship for a bit and it will become apparent whether its a player or an NPC. Also, if they have names displayed on targetting, that will be an obvious clue.

not if they are displayed as hollow squares and triangles there will be no clue! :ROFLMAO:

Guess who was that:

I’ve played enough open world online games that thought unrestricted PvP was a good idea to know that 90% of players won’t even reach that level of competence, which is why they’re so easy to pick out from NPCs. That's why such games, with the rare exception like Eve Online, inevitably wither and die unless PvP is eventually gated behind artificial restrictions. Most players play online games for escapism, or for socialization... not to be targets for other players amusement.

That's why the whole idea of "players make the best villains" inevitably proves false: most "villains" don't play these games to be provide content for others. They play games for other people to be their content.

...and people wonder why I ridicule Eve online players every chance I get...
That game has created an entire generation of hurtful little people intent on turning every other multiplayer space game into a clone of the nastier side of it...with cockpits :cautious:

One thing i find troubling with the faithful is that just because CIG said they want to do something they still believe that:

1) CIG will do it

2) CIG can do it

3) That if they do it it will resemble what they said it would

4) That if it resembles what they said it would that it will work like they imagined it would in their heads

5) That it will actually work alongside with other features in the game positively

And CIG still have to implement 90% of the things they told backers they would.

Have CIG ever said they're going to take Star Citizen out of alpha? ;)

Today's ATC topic is gonna be spicy

Catching up on the topic of the subscriber flair since it's an emotive topic for a fair few backers in one way or another...my views are quite strong on the subject, not so much by way of the ownership of subscriber items since the common argument from those supportive of being able to have them looted and the person owning those items losing access to them seems to be "Oh, you'll get them back next patch!" That's not the point.

Having those unique or rare paid for items put into that category, namely, someone shoots me in the face and steals them then being able to wear said items completely free of charge...it's no more than an advocation of theft of digital goods. Those items paid for with cash are tied to my account, someone being able to steal them in game is giving them free access to items contained in that account.

It's not about whales or entitled idiots versus the plebs, not in the slightest. If those plebs desire those purely cosmetic items so badly, they could have done the same as myself and many others have done, shown support for the development and paid a few quid for them...those subscriber flair items aren't some pay to win trophy, or concierge level ship purchase, simply fairly inexpensive cosmetic items I paid for, over and above the cost of a subscription fee.... since the purchase of the items is separate from the subscriber fee, you have to subscribe in order to be able to purchase them but they're not included for free as part of the subscription fee like some seem to be suggesting. Besides looking nice, I wear the subscriber armours to show my support for the project in game...since there's no advantage to be gained in a gameplay sense. It's not about cost or entitlement...the issue here is a real world theft of digital items I own.

As far as I'm concerned...anything bought with in game currency or unique items earned through gameplay are fair game...ships, specialist armours and weapons, anything.... but account tied and paid for with cash items are off limits, full stop.

Allowing players to take NFTs, which have real world value, would be even worse than allowing people to take subscriber flairs - which have real world cost (but no resale value, if I understand correctly). Gold Selling on a whole new level if you can take the gold from others ...

Now now, let's not be hasty. As FUDding haters we should be supporting any suggestions that will make SC worse!

(ok, this is offtopic, but hey)

Plus - I think that person talking about NFTs seems to be the one who doesn't understand them. NFTs are just a crypto-backed way of saying 'I own the rights to buy and sell this digital asset'. And because it is backed by a blockchain that right can be independently verified. But that doesn't matter at all for a game like SC where CiG is the sole controller of what goes in the game.

The only time buying, say, an Idris as an NFT would make sense would be if other space games also accepted the NFTs - so you could prove ownership and put your Idris into ED / EvE / NMS etc. Which would be cool, but isn't going to happen. Having things in SC as NFTs is a complete waste of CPU cycles.

Anyway, thank you for attending my TED talk, we now return you to your regular ScamCitizen programming :)
