Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

I dunno how anyone who is a dev fell for this crap. Initial (fake) pitch maybe but anyone with any project experience had to see he was talking out of his rear end.

There are def some experienced game-dev fans there who seem very enamoured with the 'dev with no beancounters' side of it. (And others who just like seeing an absurdly sized sausage making a mess ;). With their favourite seasoning poured in liberally...)

I agree it's mystifying that they don't see the scope bloat curse nestling in every drop of gristle. Or the more novel 'live alpha as dev hell' lessons.

But at least in fairness to those two, they have now ;)

(And we all know there are tons that've have traced that path before them. Lotta veteran game devs over at refunds who aren't just there to oggle the mess, but paid concierge cash for the privilege first...)

(My favourite is still this guy tho 😁)

You don’t need to look far around the world to see what a bunch of suckers humans can be.
From all walks of life too.
I guess it serves some evolutionary purpose? :)

Ed: I’ve tried this video out on groups of 30 people and only the really unfocused distracted people spotted it lol

I take it when you tried the video on those groups you didn't call it "The Selective Attention Test"? That is a bit of a giveaway

(Have the guys who paid $$ for it not mentioned these foibles?)
Why would they? I suspect many of those are probably not even players, grey market speculators or money launderers, who also plan to resell those ships. They have a natural interest that these are actually not too widely publicised.

I could start a new vid. Dev $$$ regrets...
A good number of frustrated posters there commenting about having a break in SC given how broken it is, and exodusing to Elite or back to Elite, too.

Have been a backer since 2012.
Juste started to play Elite Dangerous last year. It's absolutely fantastic (of course, it's not perfect and could be much more, but still) and coming back here from time to time and seeing at what kind of problem this community is still stuck, it's kind of hilarious ... and so very sad.

I do like these friendly 5-year conversations ;)

A heartwarming bidecadal conversation.PNG

That first comment, lol. The disconnect with reality is just amazing. How can anyone honestly say all that bull about the broken piece of crap that SC actually is?

As for the rest, it is scary that that conversation could have happened yesterday.

I mean, they can claim all those things are VR friendly. They're not wrong. They were just daft to ignore alllll of the other things which are VR-unfriendly in the design ;)

And how marvellously stuffed the long-list of marvellous things was. With all the implications that brings.

(But at least they've seen the funny side down the line ;))

Yeh, as general principles for VR in any game, perhaps. But that was said with regards to SC for which, given how broken everything is, and how little regard for the long term, all that he said was basically crap.
