In a side discussion on Spectrum about how the average person won't want to play SC because they will be put off by the store, the topic of subscriptions comes up to keep funding going.
Absolutely fine by me.
In addition to subs they can also continue to keep adding new ships and selling concepts well after launch. Many of us will keep buying new ships as they make them. We have money and want the game to continue.
We absolutely do not need the hordes of adhd casuals and short attention players coming here and trying to dumb down the game or make it something its not, only to leave for the next shiny thing.
The can gtfo. We have funded and will continue to fund this project indefinitely as long as CIG keeps making it.
Original pitch was no subs. They also said that ship sales were only for development of the game and would stop after launch.
So, the making it something its not, well, that would do that, or at least away from the original pitch... still, CIG have already deviated enough from the original pitch anyway.
As for the "adhd casuals" CIG have pivoted from the 10 to 1 NPC ration to be more focused on PvP, something that appeals to the, let's say, more hyperactive type of player.
