Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

So those accounts are from the subsiduary CIG Ltd.

The main UK accounts (CI UK Ltd) are still delayed til December.

Meanwhile, Stu spotted that the UK accounts have been deferred to December:

Feels like the odds of something stinky being in there just went up ;)

I mean, if (big if) it starts to become likelier that the Calders decide to exercise, CIG is going to need the extra time to ensure they can fudge properly the 2025 accounts to make the 2026 also look matching and rosy, for sure.

Worth noting that the below text was written by CIG, not the auditor. CIG still does not seem to have given access to the auditor to see the terms of the put option.

If the put option is exercised, this would restrict certain cash outflows from being made by the immediate parent. However, based on review of the relevant terms, the directors have determined that it would not impact Cloud Imperium UK Ltd.'s ability or intention to continue supporting the Company even in the event the option is exercised.
Plus, I can “support” a Company with either 1$ or 1 million$. Both are support, one of them is just laughable.

Stu's reading is that the put option has been renegotiated yet again, with the exit period pushed down the line again (a little).

Stu said:
Based on this filing, the Put Options agreement was re-negotiated to include a time extension past 30th September 2026, to:

which can be exercised within 90 days of the later of Cloud Imperium UK Ltd.'s group accounts being signed and Cloud Imperium US LLC's group accounts being signed.

CI UK Ltd's 2025 filing is due 31st December. Unknown when CI US LCC's 2025 filing is due.

The recent Confirmation Statement filing (10th September) stated no update in share ownership.

So looking like the first 90 days of 2028 now. (Depending on when the US file. And whether the UK actually file on time etc.)

Star citizen may be all of the negative things and full of all of the bugs and failures you want to believe it is. But the reality is, more people are playing it now than who play elite, no matter which site's metrics you want to use. And that would be despite all of those negative things, and despite fewer game sales. That means a much larger portion of everyone who bought it still play it as opposed to what we see with elite. That should tell you just how good the working parts are in star citizen. And hint, they are that good. Star citizen had over 35000 concurrent users this year, the last time elite came close to that was in 2021. And that's also with the fact that star citizen will kick you off the game if idle, as opposed to the normal elite gameplay of watching youtube while the game is on a second screen or just sitting on the launcher

I am not saying that makes it a better game, though i do think it is at this point. but i do wonder why this forum has always had their head in the sand and refused to believe that any other games are direct competitors. Nms is a direct competitor. Star citizen is. Starfield was, x4 is. What has fdev been doing to keep this game relevant or moving forward with delivering what it was supposed to? Do you think a new ship that does what existing ships can do is going to juice things back up? Will more foot content do it? Maybe it doesn't need to worry. Perfectly reasonable to have the existing state sustained for years to come. And that's fine. I'm not saying the one with the most users == the best.

I dont know, it's kind of just a meh experience in elite. It hasn't felt like there's been excitement about the game in a long time. Even the thargoid war was weighed down by the knowledge that fdev would never allow loss. No real player agency or change. Just day to day simple, safe grindy roles and a meta that makes choice about if you want to handicap yourself or not. I'll give fdev money for the conda 2, i'll check it out. But then i'll go back to playing star citizen, because it's mentally and physically engaging in a way that elite just has never been or at least not since like 2018.. and it comes down to how star citizen has implemented it's roles and how they have designed the whole game around the player living in those roles. The game loops feel meaningful and real. They all have skill that scales. You dont do the exact same thing as a veteran in huge endgame ships vs small starters. And you risk a lot doing anything, because space is dangerous and nobody is untouchable. It could never be more than it is now and it would still be a better gaming session than i've had in elite since the formadine rift saga. That includes the bugs and server issues.

And that's why there's more social media posts about it than elite. Elite hasn't had anything new to say to it's players, and fdev neutered all of the means elite players could build their own story to talk about.

Maybe we find out in a few months that everything is collapsing and its over. It wouldn't drive me and maybe most players back to elite. Not as it is. The reasons to not play elite often or at all anymore isn't because star citizen in available. It's because of elite itself. I still have the time, the joysticks, the vr, and the money. I hope elite finds someone who really loves it to take it somewhere, because the potential exists to go many places. Just seems like nobody is allowed to do so.

have they advertised something different?
So your problem is with cinematics and not with actual usable content? Did we not get shown power play characters that have never appeared in the game and look nothing like how the game looks? Are we supposed to think all cinimatics need to be in-game footage now?

Your nonsense would make sense if star citizen was selling copies to fuel it's popularity. But as we have already shown, star citizen's popularity in fueled by returning players, not new sales duped by marketing.

The fidelity of some cinimatics isn't the takeaway. The takeaway is: there are mountains, there is flora and fauna, there are caves there are oceans (not explorable like nms yet but you do die in them), there are cities, there is weather and clouds and low g planets and high, even gas giants with stations in the clouds, etc and there are things that make that all a unique experience. And that's the current state.

What does elite have for all it's being released and a real game and not advertising anything since the kickstarter more or less? It has what it had when horizons dropped in late 2016. Barren cookie cutter planets but now with a tint to the sky on some. Some scattered outposts that look the same everywhere you go and bad fps gameplay.

The ads are for the players. It's part of cig's identity. As much in game advertising as it is meant to be external. It's not what sells the game or keeps players playing. And they do keep playing.

But the reality is, more people are playing it now than who play elite, no matter which site's metrics you want to use. And that would be despite all of those negative things, and despite fewer game sales.

A) There genuinely aren't reliable metrics in this area. So it's kinda odd that you treat this view as 'reality', and build on top of it.

B) If it were true (perfectly possible), it would be a case of SC attracting more players than a game which launched nearly 12 years ago. A notably old game. So...big whoop?

C) Why are you talking about ED so endlessly in the SC thread?
