I presume he meant "a part" but "apart" actually works much better
He seemed to have written the post only after reading his " 15th 'I am leaving forever' post ". Those are rookie numbers.
AHHHH but are they using Lumberyard? We may never know.Wait what? They added chess, but you can't play the computer? Wth?!
So... they didn't add chess. They added 32 movable objects to a table with a square grid.
Edit: FWIW, a quick search on github shows that they could have used the open source C++ stockfish chess engine, since Lumberyard uses C++. Just chock up some more technical debt they'll have to revisit down the line.

Does Chris Roberts strike you as the kind of person who plays chess? Cards maybe. Solitaire, Snap, 52 card pickup, Happy Fami.....oh not that one.Nice catch there.
By only allowing players to play chess the rules of the game need to be enforced by the player. You know the state of the AI in Star Citizen? They can barely stand upright without t-posing and you think CIG would manage to teach it chess? lolz

Reddit is super happy about the splines being removed ☺

Number of open positions at CIG is up to 107. Are they losing people or adding new positions?
One example: no one expected the game to have full size moons and planets that were fully explorable and rendered in real time when Star Citizen was pitched as an MMO. Not only did they do that in a surprise tech demo but within months released the tech in the alpha for all of us to explore. Sure, other games have done this on some level, but not to the level of detail of Star Citizen. The planet tech, often now taken for granted, is now a core component of future gameplay that ranges from base building to emergent opportunities that weren't remotely in the cards in 2012. Will they pull off the tech to make it work on a massive scale? Who knows, but I'm excited to find out. Aren't you?
I still haven't found a mmo that tries to simulate real physics in real time across an entire system of planets most don't have much physics at all.
They still haven't found it if all they've seen is SC. TheirI still haven't found a mmo that tries to simulate real physics in real time across an entire system of planets most don't have much physics at all.
