Actually seems some of these sources may have been legit. Given stuff like this panning out 4 years later...

Well you will be happy to know, we are planning to expand the building a bit more so an overview system will be used to make ships. Well thats the plan at least.

So maybe NPC crews will arrive in 2023 too...

we will be hoping to expand on this through a space ship that will grow with you not only in tech but crew. As for the theme, we are trying to hit the perfect blend of Star Trek and Prey with modern Sci-Fi.

SC’s legacy will live on! ;)

(NB take with a huge pinch of salt as always. Aside from anything else, the source's judgement isn't perfect...)

I do know the major issue with Star Citizen is it's multiplayer, linking all those objects to all the players at the same time is taxing for systems, a lot of information kicking about. Thankfully I think they solved that with OCS recently, take a look at their weekly dev talks, they are pretty good at explaining issues and problems but their steps of where they want to go.

NPC crews were already confirmed for Starfield in that 18 minute presentation video two weeks ago

Some interesting stories from people and companies that don't understand game development:

Perhaps the wildest one was in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, where there was one random animal that controlled a planet, basically.

“All global quest variables on a certain planet were stored on an untargetable ambient creature,” said Zoeller. “Turns out AOE effects could still acquire the creature and kill it, breaking your game if you just happen to kill the right ambient creature.”

Sorry, your game broke because you killed the God Animal of Naboo. Video games are amazing.

CIG should definitely store local data in an invisible Sandworm...
