News Steam keys update

Why are you complaining about this topic? Clearly you aren't interested in a Steam key. More to the point, why are you trying to muscle in on what their time and money is spent on? If it was financially/logistically impracticable then it wouldn't have happened.

This topic isn't for people who aren't interested in a Steam key.

You are not the forum police. This thread is called 'Steam Keys update' not 'say thanks for your Steam Key here'. People are free to comment on the Steam Keys update.

From the OP: 'The team really has been working hard on this one...'

Staff time and time is money remember. Either way, effort that would have been better spent in another direction, imo.

The "team" in this case is probably referring to already existing customer support, their legal department and storefront webdevs...it's not like these people would be much help in creating 3D assets, designing mechanics/missions, sound engineering, coding AI/physics/UI/networking or other aspects of the game...

Yes and i'm also free to say this topic isn't relevant to anyone holding no interest in obtaining a Steam key, so i'll say it if i want to (see how easy that is?). Most people here are thankful for what Frontier done anyway (including myself) . Once again, thanks Frontier.

Thanks for the update, Edward. As a kickstarter I was content with the access method I had, but as a Steam user with many games accessed through that gateway, and many friends on their infrastructure, I'm delighted to have a Steam key option.

Thank you for listening to the many earlier backers who requested this. Any expense involved will be recouped many times over, I'm sure, in numerous indirect ways. First thing I'll do once I have a key is add a positive review for the game on Steam, but I'll remember to always buy new content/merchandise directly from you guys.

Good move getting this out of the way before Powerplay drops. Thanks again.

Dats a very good news. Hope it didn't cost you that much money, anyway I think the many coming users will compensate if there is a lost somewhere. And thx u for listening to ur community too.
Now we're waiting for PP.

Edit: Actually, I can't be bothered.

Nah, it's a mess, my second account is pretty much useless as I have to reinstall and verify all the time.

And this is the beauty of bootcamp. One account in winders, and a separate one in OS X.
I'm so so tempted to take advantage of this, but my mind set won't let me.

Outstanding. Thank you Frontier. This was something I have been continually checking the different threads for and the lack of info about this bothered me a lot in the last updates.

I am really pleased about this. I initially complained about it, so it is only fair that I greet you for it now. Thanks a lot :)

The team really has been working hard on this one, and we’re all super happy to finally have an answer for you. Thanks for bearing with us and thanks for playing, as always.

Edit: This applies to Kickstarter backers, too.

Ed

Thanks a lot for all the hard work! Will requesting a steam key cost Frontier anything extra? Much as I want a steam key, I'd like to know if this will negatively impact Elite. How big would the cost be, we talking single or double percentage figures of the box price?

Like many others I'm left with a few questions.

1. Does steam keep all of the game up to dat? (Or will steam only update the launcher leaving the game to be updated from FDs (sometimes slow) servers)
2. Is there a cost?
3. If there is a cost how many skins should I buy to counter it?
