In the second CG, it is almost the same. TOP 5 contributors have something like 18.7M, 16M, 15.5M etc.)
I played a lot and I contributed approx 1.2M. I played approx. 3 hours yesteday and 4 hours today. I was killing every "wanted" ship around nav beacon, sometimes got 200 Cr bounty, sometimes 90.000 Cr etc. The ships simply does not spawn fast enough and I cannot imagine to contribute 18M even playing non-stop without trips to refuel/reload/cash bounty.
A bit strange...
Not really; I've donated just under 10m earned from about 2.5 hours of play since it started, and 600k I had from earlier in the week... and this is my first Community Goal. I'm using a Python in Solo so I don't have to share the spawn, and resetting the instance until the Dropship / Python / Imperial / Anacaondas appear, then just sitting and blasting them over and over until I can't take much more. The safest way to reset the instance is to point your nose 90 degrees away from the planetary rings, boost out until you can engage supercruise, then just turn immediately around and drop back in again; if I see sidewinders or criminal Adders as the first couple of spawns I reset it again until I get the heavy spawn.
The heavies give an average of 100k credits for each kill, and my figures are coming from simply chain killing them at a rate of about 1 every 5 minutes; at a certain point, when the zone is full of miners and NPC police, the next spawn is almost always one of the heavies, and they're always criminal if you've got the right spawn list. To get to 18m then I would expect to do about 4 hours of grinding (another 1.5 hours from where I am now), which isn't that much for the obsessives, but I can't keep focused myself that long.
It also took me to Master ranking, and unlocked the Alioth Permit mission, although I didn't realise this as the text description was broken and it's now gone; I hope to see it again either when I do an hour or two more tonight or before I leave for the rest of the week. If I'm still top 5% when I return I'll be amazed, but at the time of typing this it's already just about to unlock Tier 5 and at 4.7b handed in in total... I rather suspect those who can grind for 8-10 hours a day are probably sitting on enormous sums to hand in, so it could end exceptionally quickly. Not sure what the global bonuses are going to help with at all, I just wanted to take part for the first time, and get an extra bit of free cash... no cheating involved though, just working the spawn then using a large ship.
