Stop using Materials and rolls as a measuring stick, and use players time and actual game loops instead.
I’ve seen people flash all these statistics how the new system is going to cost more in materials, compared to getting perfect rolls in the current system. [noob]
So what, you loose out on 10 rolls on a module. I could blow that amount at grade 5 and STILL not get what I want
And why is engineering a timesink? Triple RNG:
Material RNG
Engineer RNG
Secondary Effect RNG
. And at grade 5 those Cracked Industrial Firmware could take days if not weeks of play to acquire in the quantities to even start rolling.
And those initial rolls could be positive or negative, and then they could be negatively impact by the secondary roll
All that hard work and gametime I've bargined from the wife, for literally NOTHING.
Secondary Effect RNG has now been removed. -
They are purchasable and stay with the the blueprint.
Engineer RNG has been effectively removed
No more in-your face negative rolls, they are all “just positive”.
And we are talking 12-18 rolls to max out a module from scratch.
And not the 500+ rolls (at grade 5) we’ve been hearing about to get half decent.
So you don’t spend time at a roulette table, you just put the time and effort into just getting what you want. -
And now the biggy that everyone is hung up on, again Think in respects to time and gameloops.
material RNG is lessoned :
material biased RNG is visible from Orbit with the new graphics - shortening the game loop for that elusive drop.
- out 112 materials are about to get 100 unit of storage. that’s 11,200 units of storage.
So all those common materials you are forever jettisoning so you don’t loose out on that elusive rare drop you spent days playing for, will never impact you again.
- the broker allows the player to buy the material again shortening the game loop, instead of grinding and waiting for that elusive drop.
I spent months trying to get better drives for my adder, I have limited playtime, waiting for the correct BSG context, and fighting for grade 5 materials is the largest time-sink in the game for me.
And then having failure tossed in my face after that time-sink, is frustrating.
Engineering in 2.X it’s just quite literally not worth my time until the new system kicks in and I’m guaranteed to max my modules is less time, and effort.
Sure in your minds it might be more materials ( But only if you perform perfect RNG ROLLS in the triple RNG system) :O
But I know, that every minute I play, EVERY rock I blast, every scoop from a dispatched wanted pirate, goes towards that new upgrade. I will never get a negative roll, I will never have wasted my time searching for elusive materials, and having that blow up in my face with negative roll.
And I will get there in less time, and have less frustrating gameplay in the process
