Stranded By Gallactic Rotation?

Newbie here.

Am way above (or below?) the galactic disc. Jumped as far as I can go in this direction away from the bubble. When you're out here where the jumps strain your fsd is it possible to jump to a system just before it moves out of range of the star you came from effectively stranding you?

I doubt the sim is wasting computing power on such things as the rotation of systems around the galactic center but it's fun to imagine.

Anybody else ever get this strange foreboding feeling while dangling their toes in the abyss?

Turn on the “visited systems” view on the gal map to see where you have been and backtrack your steps out of there.

Even if the game did simulate the motion of stars, it would be so slow that it would make no practical difference in gameplay. For example, suppose you were at a star and your jump destination was moving directly away from you at 100 km/s. Then you logged out, and logged back in 10 years later: during that time, the jump distance would have increased by 0.0005 ly.

The other thing it could be is that you filled your gas tank and the extra weight lowered your jump range. If this is the case, just wait around and burn off some fuel; and your jump range will increase slowly. Hopefully this is the issue here.

Stars within star systems move and orbit each other. Star systems themselves, on the galaxy map, on the other hand, are fixed in place forever, never moving.

So that's one thing you won't have to worry about.
