Newcomer / Intro Stuttering on my first flight

Hello everyone, I have just purchased Elite Dangerous and this is my rig -

MB: Asus Z97 Deluxe
CPU: Intel Core i7 4790k Devils Canyon (4.8ghz stable OC)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro Series 16 GB 2400 MHz
GPU: EVGA GTX 980 CLASSIFIED ACX 2.0
SSD: 2x Plextor M6e PCI-Express 256gb
SSD: 2x Samsung 840evo 512gb
SSD: 1x Samsung 840evo 256gb

I am playing at 1080p with max settings and vsync (60hz)
Supersampling is only at 1 x

I am on the training missions flying around the asteroid belt and it is super smooth for the most part but I get random stuttering as I am panning around which lasts for a few seconds then goes away.
Until I eliminate this I cannot play this game because it is very distracting. All drivers are up to date and no other game I own does this, they all run butter smooth at 60fps vsync.
I turned on/off the fps limiter but no help.
When loading the level and the ship rotates in the middle of the screen, even that stutters whilst revolving for a few seconds.
Any tips? Thanks in advance.

Strange as it might seem, it might be your audio manager causing issues. That computer is an absolute beast of a machine. But I had the same issue - I closed out, and discovered I had multiple processes of my audio manager going off at once.

All I know is that few seconds of stuttering at loading screen is normal if it makes you feel any better :)

Cheers guys. Well I uninstalled the Nvidia drivers and reinstalled again, unchecking everything apart from physx but same result. I even dropped shadows from ultra to high.
I couldn't see multiple audio processes running apart from the process from my Realtek onboard sound. I know the issue is something and nothing I just can't find it.
I have MSI Afterburner running (but no overclock) so I don't know if that will cause stutter.

I would first try turning off the Vsync and the MSI Afterburner. I only OC from the BIOS settings myself.
Make sure in BIOS that your on-board video isn't on or sharing ram.
Some folks have said that the Beta Nvidia drivers work better as well.

Have you a lot of stuff running in your system tray?

Good Luck!

Thanks, I will try the beta drivers. I have very little running in my tray, I try keep a tidy system. I tried turning off vsync and just using a fps limiter but the tearing is too much.
Just seen this thread with pages of people having stutter in just this game whilst playing at 60fps. Not sure if it relates to what I am seeing but I don't seem to be alone.

Okay, first, training missions are OLD. Their optimization stayed the same from 1.0 - Please DO try the main game (in solo mode if you're afraid of people. I think you'll find it much better.

And second, there is a bit of a stutter from now and then, that has nothing to do with the graphics, but is caused by a net lag. Turn on the connection meter by pressing Ctrl+B and watch the bandwidth. When the game downloads a bigger amounts of data, you'll unfortunately experience some hiccups.

And btw. congrats on your machine. *drools*

Not a tip maybe, but I just wanted to let you know that I'm using a quite similar setup rig and I don't experience any problems like you do... no stuttering whatever. I've got every gfx setting I could find set to max.

I've got the regular Asus Z97 MB, same CPU (without OC), 16 GB RAM (Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3 PC12800/1600MHz), Gigabyte G1 GTX 980 and I'm using a 256 GB Samsung 850 Pro as main drive. I'm playing in 1440p on a 27" monitor, and I'm using Win7. The system in only a couple of weeks old with all the latest drivers installed. I presume that we're using similar drivers for the MB and GFX card, unless you've got another OS.

I am using Windows 8.1, sorry forgot to mention that. I think I will uninstall/reinstall and try play around with all settings. Failing that, contact support. My system is tip top shape and I don't even have a single error in the Event Viewer after a boot or any issues with other games, strange one.
Question - Are you also using vsync?

Before you uninstall give the game itself a run if you have only run the training missions so far.

I'd also try without vSync.

You can see my rig in my sig below. I play with the graphics way below maxed, but I only see very occasional stutter. Your rig should be able to run this game like butter.

Did you solve the problems yet?

Yes, I'm running with vsync set to ON.
