Modes [Suggestion] How to incentivise open play and make it relevant

Evidence of actual cheating should, of course, be reported to Customer Support.

Well, one Dev has indicated that Frontier are well aware that the majority of players don't get involved in PvP - so it's hardly surprising, especially when players that do prefer PvP propose that content is locked to Open.

You must have missed the quotes about "all modes being equal and valid" and that Frontier are aware that not all players agree.

Proving beyond doubt that it was actually a player-initiated disconnection would seem to be the issue, from what Frontier have said. I expect that they do deal with confirmed combat loggers though (but don't publish anything on the matter) - and the expected karma system should track combat logging type incidents too.

Heres a whole list of Combat Loggers, Enjoy https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteCombatLoggers/ It seems to me like they do. And they havnt really punished anyone for it. And now if the whiners dont get their way if they change the BGS they are going to mess with their internet connection?

IN OTHER GAMES YOU GET BANNED FOR THAT.

Yeah so far, all ive seen in solo and private using their modes to their advantage. Combat loggers still in the game, repeat offenders too. Hell I watched some dude that was streaming turn his whole computer off with 50 people watching him.

So please ya'll should really think about what you are saying. Because its one of the main reason the features of this game is not working. While people around here are selfish playing in solo and private while intentionally effecting the multiplayer experience.

Once again, I'll leave you with this, https://imgur.com/a/83M5D

Have a nice day.

I thought shamming isnt allowed on here. You might want to modify your post and pull that list.

:D Because enough is enough and its time for a change. Limit the BGS to Open play. Everything else for personal growth in solo. Play with your friends in private group. But if you want the multiplayer experience. GO PAY FOR IT LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.

I guess you are not too familiar with the Offline Mode fiasco.

Perhaps I have mentioned it before? Please bear with me because it is do important that it deserves to be mentioned again to illustrate a very powerful point...

After promising Offline Mode, FDev cancelled it.

The reason FDev chose to cancel it was in order that ALL MODES affected the single BGS. This was the fundamental design decision: BGS affected equally by ALL MODES.

If they suddenly create a de-Facto offline mode where none of the Solo players' interactions caused any effects in the BGS, there would be an incredibly strong backlash. And rightly so. Because part of the reason for cancelling Offline Mode was so that the single player experience was not watered down. Solo mode was the "replacement" for Offline Mode. Even so, many backers chose to take their money back when FDev did the honourable thing. They didn't *have* to offer backers their money back, but FDev chose to do that pro actively and for that FDev have my utmost respect. (Good job FDev. I mean it.)

Consider the consequences of what you are asking for. The results wouldn't be pretty.

Yours Aye

There edited. The fact remains.

There shouldn't be anyone to name and shame for cheating now should there?

You cannot prove someone was "cheating".
A mate of mine got cut off last night as his router did a firmware upgrade and reset itself without warning - we were in the middle of a fight in Guild Wars 2.

Again, my mate Azhag gets cut off all the time with his rubbish connection. More so in Elite if there is a few folks about. His modem resets.

People can disappear for lots of reasons that are not "Combat Logging". So that whole Sub Reddit is rubbish as none of that is proof of "cheating".

Legit question here.

How is it I can come here and disprove everything you guys say with video evidence?

Remember I didnt come to this battle with an empty gun.

Ive shown and proven everything. GG.

How about you get banned for cheating. Like every other game?

This is what confuses me. This is the only community that encourages cheating. And looks down on player vs player activity. Very g childish. And frontier should be speaking up about it. As well as following through with combat logging.

Remember when I said, you people are going to take the lesser path of resistance. Using solo and private modes to have an effect on other player factions? Now youre going to go out of your way to cheat, to further prove my point.

Thanks.

GAME. SET. MATCH.

Im done here.

Frontier. THE BALL IS IN YOUR COURT. You going to allow cheaters?

I fully support your new campaign to have cheaters banned, start with all the pesky rascals who used the 5-1 engineer cheat. FDEV have already ID'd them so they are the easiest example to set, it's just a matter of dropping that ban hammer. Do it publicly the more players know it's happened the less cheating there will be, and the legit players will enjoy the laughs.

They said they are taking it seriously.

You know that engineer exploit? That was around for 9 months. Both PVErs and PVPers took advantage of this. And it was reported a ton.

There were LOTS AND LOTS of people that took advantage of that.

Remember when I said people are going to take the lesser path of resistance? Its not just the no good pvpers you know.

It would seem that the method that your opponent used was a glitch in the BGS which caused a disproportionate effect (not the first and probably not the last) - it could just have easily have been carried out in Open however - as there's no guarantee that anyone else will be instanced with the player in Super-Cruise and, once in normal space, you'd have a hard job finding him - and that's where the action took place.

.... and Support did not say that any cheating took place - even though there would seem to have been a request for action against the player.

[musical interlude]I want to mention, Robert, you are a prince among swine. I would rep every post you made in this thread if I could.

What you're showing here is beyond me and I have a great deal if respect for it.

Yes, there were even more who didn't and would enjoy a good old fashioned dev's read out the comedy complaining/pleading/threatening e-mails from the banned video.

But surely clogging is just the path of least resistance (for those naughty scamps who do it).

Yes I'm aware of the forum thread (have you not learned yet, I spend way too much here :p ).
And Frontier always take accusations of cheating seriously.

But single isolated YouTube videos do not constitute "evidence" of "cheating" nor does that Reddit thread.
Some folk have a legitimate reason for a disconnect mid fight.

That thread also does not take in to consideration people using a graceful mid combat exit using the 15 second timer.
This isn't cheating, Frontier put he timer in and if someone uses that to exit a fight then saying they are cheating is a false accusation.

Is powerplay working?

Is there a milewide inch deep meme?

Has there been 5 years of hotel California?

Is there guilds coming?

Did support acknowledge there was no counter to the BGS actions that were taken? And that normally the people that play in those modes arent there to effect other players. As that WAS NOT THE INTENT OF THOSE MODES.

The combat loggers reddit, show people logging out. The BGS video also proves the imbalance within the modes.

Again, I didnt come to fight for this stuff without proof. And im showing why the games features are not working because of it.

And its because YOU GUYS show up to every thread asking for change. Because YOU GUYS want to be able to effect the multiplayer experience while using a single player mode. CALLED SOLO, or even Private Modes in which you are playing for your group. NOT everyone else thats playing this game.

I have proof. All you guys have is your opinions. And what someone said years ago with jockys text. When things have changed and new things are coming.

Development changes will come too.

Ive never seen so many selfish people holding a game back like this. Again, Its shameful.

They force BGS attacks. Something you cant opt out of? While in solo mode? |

YEAH ROBERT IS SELFISH.

The game is designed that way. Frontier designed the game. Players bought the game based on that design. Frontier have stated, on several occasions now, that they consider all modes to be equal and valid. Blaming the players for playing the game as intended seems a bit much, in my opinion....

Your right. And games features failed because of it. Genius.

From a direct PvP perspective, maybe - but that's an optional play-style not shared by all players - and non-optional direct PvP. would likely adversely affect the game population - given that the majority of players apparently don't do it.

ATTACKING SOMEONE THOUGH THE BGS IS PVP. Hello?

Because it is the core game play you bought.

It also says hunt other commanders, but you cant do that and have an impact. The only reason to do it, is consensual. Or Salt-mining.

Thats why this gonna change.

Wrong, you can take missions to hunt any profession and CMDRs class for that mission.

So it does have an impact on the BGS doing PvP - as long as you have the mission to support it.
