[Suggestion] Online PvP + Group + Solo

Suggestion: Give people who like to PvP an Online PvP option. Where they can shoot, grief, yell "Carebear!" and kamikaze each other to their hearts content.

Give all other people the option for Online Group and Online Solo. Where in Online Group you can get damaged by other players, but never more then your shields can handle. Players can get fully damaged by npc ships tho. I think this Online Group option will give alot of players the mmo PvE experience they want.
The Online Group or Solo profile should not tranfer over to Online PvP. So Pvp'ers can not use riskfree trading benefits from the Online Group option.

I actually think the Elite Dangerous Online PvP option will be a huge success. This because the combat requires actual skill, there seems to be people who want nothing more than to PvP, the game is yaw dropping beautiful and there are alot of tactical choices to be made between ships and ships armaments.

Yaw dropping beautiful? I'm not sure if it is clever shot at previous (and numerous) threads, but I giggled.

Anyway, this has been discussed to death and beyond. I would be interested to hear how many players actually get 'griefed' and not just pirated or bounty hunted.

I like the way FD are going. They keep the options opened, you can join open group or can avoid it. It is designed mainly leaning to coop in mind anyway, so killing players randomly will be a bad decision.

Another point - If there are gonna be transponders, you won't be able to tell who's player and who is NPC.

I think people are just trying to create problems and topics where there are essentially non. This isn't clear cookie cutter MMO, there isn't clear distinction of PvP and PvE in a sense, it is all packed together.

Aaaaaaaaand here we go again. Seconds out round... I've lost count. Mod, circular thread alert please tag it on the end of one of the others.

It is true that that are alot of posts about this. IMHO this shows that there is alot of concern among players concerning 'PvP'.

However, what i was missing from those posts were constructive ideas how to give people what they might want from the game.
Whether that is not being ganked by people and losing precious cargo or on the other side the ability to pirate in the game...

So any suggestions and constructive feedback are welcome!

Suggestion:

Allow the game to put in place the outlined systems, then if evidence rather than conjecture indicates an issue, allow FD to fix it.

Wrong in my opinion - all it means is there's a bunch of people who either did not research this game properly when they signed up, or they signed up anyway in the deluded belief they could change the design direction. For the umpteenth time, Elite: Dangerous is not a pvp-focused game. It is only intended to be an adjunct to a multiplayer sandbox environment. While it is true the pvp must equal multiplayer, it does not automatically follow that multiplayer equals pvp, and certainly not in the Elite: Dangerous model.

Very much this.

Ragewolf, no offense but, have you actually read any of the posts on this subject? They all come to pretty much the same conclusion.

My feedback is this. A number of threads have been started about getting more PvP focus. In all those threads, the response has been a "No" from the majority of respondents.

That's really it. Just because a lot of threads get started, that doesn't mean there is a big concern in the community about it - the responses in prior threads indicate most do not wish to have a greater focus on PvP, be forced into PvP modes or otherwise have the experience adjusted from that outlined by FD.

I don't see why this issue cannot be allowed to rest now...

Toad.

It's like that EU vote they had in Ireland a few years ago...

First time, the government didn't get the answer they wanted. So they had another vote and got the answer they wanted.

And you think that they will want to stay in their own little closed off area where they can only fight against each other?

A small number of people in a HUGE universe where they will only see each other if they all agree to go to one place.

They've already stated that they don't like fighting the NPCs so we may as well remove them from their little universe as well.

In fact, just remove the whole universe and leave them as asteroid field to fly around and shoot each other in. No need to give them a station for out-fitting their ships (or buying more powerful ships), as it is purely the thrill of battle they want and not one-upmanship in any way sort or form.

I don't think they'd stay there. Do you? Really?
