Supercruise Assist button?

My buttons are streamlined. The one thing that would be useful is toggle SA while looking at a target or something. I use them all a lot.

What kind of setup do you have? I could use some streamlining.

I’ve got a Thrustmaster... something crap I forget. It’s the like $40 one haha

I'l throw my hat in the ring here too. When I'm doing trade missions, I can target a station from the galaxy map a dozen star systems away, but when I drop into that system, I have to quickly steer away from the star while scrolling through the nav panel trying to find that same station that I already have targeted so I can enable SCA. If I already have it targeted, why can't I just hit a button to enable SCA? Slowly crawling through 11,000ls of empty space with no interaction is something I would greatly love to automate.

A wrinkle: make bookmarks for stations you regularly visit. Then you can plot a route to the system using the bookmark. On dropping into the system, you'll have the station already targetted.

Doesn't seem super well thought about, making it live only in the nav panel with no mapping, and the way it will keep pulling you even after you're trying to steer away after orbit... seems like there could have been some kind of intelligence too it where it will have a breakaway threshold or something, if they aren't going to make it mappable.

Why aren't there modifier keys to the super cruise key? I don't know.

I may be unclear as to what you refer to about the breakaway but its only a few degrees off axis and it shuts off, then re-enables when you come back in line with the target.

I did this initially when I was using the.... supercruise assist hellafastdocking "exploit" before setting my throttle properly.

I don't think there's ever going to be a button toggle. Frontier wants the laborious and tedious menu scrolling because it disrupts automation. Simple button presses can be scripted too easily.

I love supercruise assist as of a few days ago.

Made a macro for the mouse (I use that constantly for head look) and called it done.

Definitely improves the experience triggered off one key, though I think that could be more to do with how stiff the buttons on the x56 are I have setup for it

Fdev confirmed this was coming early 2021. The new button will sit right next to the request docking one.

jokes aside, I'd like this to be a hotkey

I was just about to ask for proof. I wish they would make a hotkey for this already!
