Yeah, I did the same. Also FSSed around 60 random boring systems - also for 0. Also DSSed 8 AW and got 24 credits. No idea where my initial 90+ came from, that CMDR had just been doing cargo runs around the bubble, certainly hand't been scanning AWs 🤷‍♂️
Maybe you got one credit for scanned +1 or 2 for mapped. maybe more for first discovery ?

My tests are going to basically cover:
  • Fully DSS'ed mundane system
  • System w/ GG with Ammonia Based Life (DSS'ed).
  • System w/ AW (DSS'ed)
  • System w/ ELW (DSS'ed)
Doing the mundane one first.

Oh vinegars.... mundane system is too close to the start system to hand in XD

Just doing the maths:

Took a one hour and 500 ly trip to the station from the bubble using road to riches. Mapped the first five even if they were 2000 ls from the star but it took too long, so mapped only those less than 200 ls from the star for the second part of the trip, still a couple.

In total 33 points and 13 million credits. And my trip might have been more like two hours to be honest, but I did a little extra scanning that took time from the goal.

If 5000 players make one point per minute (ie three minutes to jump and map, or one minute to jump and DSS scan, both of which are insanely optimistic) we gain 300k point per hour. The target of this CG is 27 million, about 100 times more.

Yes, that is an average per player of more than 100 hours, if the turnup is slightly larger than the precious goal out here, where fleet carriers weregoine like shuttles back and forth.

I was top 10% on that one and definitely did not spend more than 50 hours (half that, in reality perhaps 20-30?).

How far from possible is this, in reality?

So far, after 18 hours (given the lack of UC from the start), we have 18300 points (approx). A little shy of the nearly four million per day target. Yes, it will probably increase a bit during the weekend, but who can spend 100 hours playing Elite Dangerous over the weekend?

No way the targets will remain like this, unless we suddenly have an influx of 500 players that want to dump all their cartography data acquired over several months in the black this very week, so that someone else can get the bonus the next week(s).

Just finished my batch of 50 AW DSS-ed in the bubble
It involved FSS-ing a number of systems that made up 2 pages and probably another half page of UC data (about 52 millions credits)

Got exactly 150 reports - a lot of those AW were unexplored for me, but i still got 150 reports for 50 AW DSS-ed...

About how much time did you spend?

Agree with everything you say, but it must be hard for FD to judge; remember, there were (hundreds of) thousands of new, free accounts created just recently... yet we've only got =~ 1,000 people doing this so far?

Well I’ve put around three hours of my life into the CG, started it yesterday, and have not turned in a single thing (ganked on the way to the station and haven’t had time to finish a second run yet), so even with high participation rates there might be more of a delay before it starts to grow the numbers. It’s not like trade or combat where you’re doing a bunch of A->B runs which accumulate. The chunks are bigger, more discrete, and the setbacks negate larger amounts of effort, which I imagine will make progress more sporadic.

edit: Also I would bet that 90% of new players have read the CG description and have absolutely no clue what to do or how to do it.

Welcome to exploration, new Cmdrs!

Omfg, I made 510m within 5h, and got 9 points(wasn't using the database, these are ones I discovered)I found 3 or 4), I got first mapped on all of them, and first discovered on 2 of them.
