So this is what frontier said and all they said I'm trying to figure out how to go about it I've made the new account but do I link old account or create a new account with same email Please load up Elite Dangerous on another gamertag on your console. Create a new CMDR using your existing Frontier account

Reading exactly what they wrote here, my interpretation is: Something is wrong with your current gamertag and Elite Dangerous, causing it to not be able to link up with your Frontier account and thus not be able to play the game. So instead, it sounds like they want you to make a new gamertag, and then open ED for the first time on that new gamertag and link it to your existing frontier account. Then you can make a new commander like that.

I can't say that's what they mean, but that's how I'm reading that response.

Please note it's important to use the same Frontier account and actually create a CMDR and name them.

With this part in mind, I'm curious if it's possible to attach 2 gamertags to the same ED account. What I'm wondering is that they're saying that if you create the new gamertag and log into ED, it'll use your existing frontier account. Then you make a new commander and name it on the new gamertag... this could somehow correct whatever issue you are experiencing on your current gamertag?

Dunno dude, but I still interpret the response the same way atm. I don't know if it's right, but in your shoes those are the steps I'd take.

So creat new account using same email or link it

I'm reading it as linking it. I'm assuming you're on XBox thanks to the whole gamertag thing, so I think they want you to make a new microsoft XBox gamertag, open ED on that, link to your existing frontier account, and then make the new commander and name them.

Why? No clue. But that's how I'm reading it, so that's what I'd probably do in your shoes.

Once you've done that, please let me know and we'll copy your inaccessible CMDR over to this account while we continue our investigation. Once we've sorted things out we'll then move your back. :)

Ok, it makes more sense now. As you share more clues, it starts to become more obvious what they want to do.

Per this reddit thread, it seems that 1 Elite Dangerous install on an Xbox can be used by any gamertag on the xbox: Reddit post on multiple gamertags using 1 ED account

So what I'm seeing in your responses is that your main gamertag is messed up in ED, and they don't know why. So their suggestion is to make a new gamertag on the XBox, load up ED and log in using the same email as your existing frontier account. This should, I think, open ED on your existing Frontier account. No more steps required.

Then they want you to make a new commander with a name, and then let them know when you are done. They will grab your current commander on your main gamertag, and MOVE him to replace the new commander you just made on the new gamertag. That will be temporary, so that you can play Elite Dangerous while they figure out what happened to your main account. Eventually, they will move him back.

In theory, you will log into ED using the new gamertag and it will act like you've never logged into ED before, even though it's still the same frontier account. If I read correctly, that appears to be a feature of XBox allowing "game sharing" between gamertags on the same XBox.

Now all you can do is reach back out to them, let them know you followed their instructions and... wait. Beyond that I'm not sure what else you could do. It's the weekend so I don't know what support's hours are.

I wish you luck, CMDR! o7

Well I hope soon have bin waiting almost 2 weeks

Ouch. I mean... how much progress do you have on your original CMDR? A lot, or is this a relatively new character? I dunno man... now that I've learned that 1 install of ED can be used by multiple gamertags, in your shoes I'd probably make a THIRD gamertag, make a new commander and play it over the weekend to kill time lol. I wouldn't use the one I just made because I wouldn't want to screw up support's efforts, but starting fresh on a new character using a third gamertag sounds more fun than just waiting for support to get back to you.
