SweetFX

Is anybody using SweetFX in ED? For me it does not work. The screen remains black, but I can hear the menu music and the button sounds when i move the mouse.

Did anyone tested SweetFX successfully? Would be nice to know. I use the injector nearly for every new game.

Greetings!

I have a swFX working on my machine. Took me a lot of time to find a valid one. Will try to post it here if I remember it tonight ;)

Could you post some screenshots using it so I can see if its worth the hassle getting it to work. Used to use it a lot for Guild Wars 2 made the game look so much better.

I have both, SweetFX 32bit and 64bit. When using the 32bit version there's a black screen with menu music only, using 64bit nothing happens - ED is running as supposed to be.
Man, ED with some nice additional effects - that would be nice.

Hmmm... Can't seem to find any attachment management on this forum. Is there an easy way to upload it for you ?

The SweetFX does indeed work with ED. My settings are just a little bit more contrast ( very subtle ) and little bit more saturation too. Not that fancy.

But any SwFX user should now how to setup his as he wishes :)

edit: Just read you have sweetfx working :) Definitely need to look into that tomorrow then :)

I can't see it either, but you can insert a link to a website or server where you uploaded your SweetFX files. Else send me an E-Mail.

kwik, you're my hero. SweetFX works, and of course, it does look sweet now! What you get:

1. more contrast
2. black is now black, and stars are still shiny
3. more detail due to more depth on textures, planets, asteroids and especially skyboxes
4. bloom control
5. more realistic, technicolor styles

You must disable ingame-AA to make SweetFX work. You also should use the standard version, not the 64bit one!

I would like to post some screenies, but i cannot open .dds files. Any suggestions? Else I would like to share my SweetFX settings with you, but I don't know how to upload on this forum.

Thanks again, kwik. It's a new game now!

I just downloaded this profile and while it does work, I cannot seem to be able to edit the values. I can do it in the SweetFX_settings notepad but when I reload it in game it doesn't change. It's defiantly activated because I can switch between having it on and off.

olgiwolgibolgi

you use the settings inside the folders (of the above link) or someone sending you one by PM?

can you sending me yours please?

thanks so lot (sorry for my english)

yes please

If you have your settings, I would love to see them!
EDIT: I made it work. If anyone has trouble getting this to work reply here. I was able to edit all the values.

Thanks for this.

64bit default settings work well once AA is turned off in the game settings.

Need to work out how to lower the saturation level a tad from the defaults because the oranges are a little too rich (on my LCD LED monitor) for my taste.

I hadn't heard of SweetFX before reading this thread but I'll certainly be keeping it in mind for other games. It allows colour grading to be done to games which you'll not usually otherwise be able to do without laborious changes to monitor settings.

Am now getting my head around the settings definitions!

Would be interested to try out presets anyone has created especially for ED.
